LONDON, Oct 16 — More than half of Britons could have breath that smells worse than their pet’s, according to a survey released Thursday. And women are the worst offenders, with three out of five failing a sulfur emissions test, according to research by toothpaste manufacturer Aquafresh “SOME MOUTHS may be dirtier than cat litter,” dentist Brian Grieveson said in a statement that accompanied the research.

“Most people in the UK do not realize that cleaning your tongue is as important as cleaning your teeth,” he added.
Scots had the best oral hygiene, with only 10 percent suffering bad breath, compared with 27 percent in London. Throughout the nation, 52 percent were rated at a level that could be worse than that of a pet animal.

“We are one of the last countries to understand the need to clean our tongue, with people in America and parts of Europe practicing tongue cleaning routinely,” said Grieveson.

Secretaries were the freshest profession, achieving 100 percent freshness in the survey of 1,000 people, while retail staff fared worst and received the warning: “You could be losing sales.”

Please ignore the following, I just need to get this out:

Note to self: No more open mouth kissing with the Queen!

Is it because of that FILTHY accent?!

The dog population should be offended for researchers to even suspect their breath would be as bad as the English.

Ello Love. Ow 'bout a kiss?

50% of British have zackly.
Their breath smells zackly like their ass.

Phew!! Ok I'm done.
Bring on the Americans are fat/dumb/hillbilly jokes!

But in reality, This study is probably BS. It's done by a toothpaste company and I bet if they came to America they'd get the same finding just because they want to sell more toothpaste!

Fluoride 'better than brushing'
By Celia Hall, Medical Editor
(Filed: 24/10/2003)

MPs have been told by a Government health minister that fluoride in water is better and cheaper than brushing teeth in preventing tooth decay.

But Melanie Johnson, the Minister for Public Health, denied yesterday that she had advocated throwing toothbrushes away. Last week she sent a letter to all MPs encouraging them to support the Water Bill.

But she also stressed that the Government was not seeking to impose universal fluoridation.

A clause in the Bill, now in committee stages, should make it easier for local health authorities to have fluoride added to the water as a dental health measure, by removing the water companies' power of veto.

MPs will have a free vote on the clause and Miss Johnson has sent MPs a letter enclosing a detailed document from Prof Sir Liam Donaldson, the chief medical officer for England, and Prof Raman Bedi, the chief dental officer, in favour of fluoridation.

Miss Johnson said yesterday: "We are not saying that people should stop brushing their teeth.

"Water fluoridation delivers a greater reduction in tooth decay than toothpaste and reaches everybody."

Ian Wylie, chief executive of the British Dental Association said: "Fluoridation is the single most effective measure in reducing tooth decay amongst children."
