So far, this has been one of the worst years in hip hop. It's hard to give you five top albums. These are mine:
Soul Supreme - "The Saturday Nite Agenda."
PMD - "The Awakening."
D.O.C. - "Deuce."
Scarface - "Balls and my Word."
Craig G - "This Is Now!"
The only way you can fuck with me, is in a orgy.

LOL, it's the best year since 1998.  Maybe 1996.

Little Brother - The Listening
Immortal Technique - Revolutionary Vol. 2
The Last Emperor - Music, Magic, Myth
Jay-Z - The Black Album
Outkast - Speakerboxx/The Love Below

If we are putting future releases then Nas' The Lost Tapes 2 is there too.

Paris - Sonic Jihad
Last Emperor -  Music Magic Myth
Gang Starr - Ownerz
Hieroglyphics - Full Circle
Defari - Odds And Evens

I haven't picked up Immortal Technique's but I bet that's up there too.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
