After the move we'll be on www.dubcc.com, but we wont be running the new forum software yet, it'll be just as it is now, but in a new place.

WCC Slow Forum Problem Is Being Worked Upon - November 5, 2003 By : Overseer
Users of WCC will have noticed that the performance of the forum has degraded seriously over the last month or so. (and periodically we've had other similar problems)

I am working to try and get the forum moved to a new host with minimal interruptions to its availability.

Along with moving host the forum will be on a new domain dubcc.com.

The move to dubcc.com was originally planned to coincide with a major upgrade and facelift of the forum, but the move part has been brought forward as things have become unbearable. If things go to plan it will only be unavailable for a matter of hours.

Once moved everything (all posts, users etc etc) bar the location will remain the same.

The facelift and upgrade will still be happening, this won't really affect that.

ok.. part 1 complete.. we've been approved by the host!

what? sounds silly huh? well right now hey dont openly advertise hosting.. you have to be in the know really.. we gonna be flyin!

We're all paid up for a year. i've got all the hosting details already

at this rate I expect it'll be sorted fully on sunday.

you will notice that both dubcc.com and 'that' other one if u know about that one.. will be inaccessible/down in the next 24 hrs or so.. thats a -good- sign

yup but i'm gonna get the board shifted first, i'll also be running a query on the database to update all links already in posts so they point to the new location.

btw.. both DNS updates I needed done are complete according to internic! but one works here (www.rollinondubs.net) , one doesnt (www.dubcc.com), so theres still some propogation to go. They will look similar (like the new rollinondubs.net page) in the end.


btw... dubcnn is still on the old host

what it will do is.. after we've moved if you go to say.. this post...

it will show u a msg explaining we've moved and 'bounce' you to...

for all posts on the board reffering to other posts on the board i'll be running a query on the database but this is to catch links on other sites to here etc etc
