Two great artists that the mainstream would never understand... intriguing match-up.

Ras has one classic album under his belt but has constantly failed to live up to it since. His place in hip-hop history is set with 'Nature of the Threat' alone, but, like Snoop, I can't see him ever reaching the heights of his first album again.

Paris, on the other hand, is a legend - no doubt. You've got to respect the man for everything he has had the balls to do over his career - this a man who beives in artistry.

Gotta go with Paris... but an honorary mention to Ras for the cleverest track in the 'East Coast / West Coast' shit with 'Sonset'...

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
