Yes. As Muslims, we fast to avoid the self-effacing patterns of drug abuse, alchohol abuse, and gluttony.  A person who can not control their eating habits and develop self-accusation and self-control, is an individual who is knee deep in their falling a God of their own that is not consistent with the God in the Bible or the Holy Qu'ran.

The god that the Glutonist is following is the god of their own selfish desires.  And the abuser keeps diving head first deeper and deeper into those selfish desires till they are ashames of themselves, and then to take their minds away from their shame and self-loathing they continue to fill that whole in their body.  But that whole can never be filled, and it is only when we can see past our noses and into the world of the unseen, that we may truly become aware of our full potential as a human family.

There will be those that close their eyes, and plug their ears with their forefingers, and later swear upon their Holy Bibles to have seen no evil and heard no evil.

Yeah, exactly, the bible says stack up riches in heaven, not on earth, so basically, too much of anything is gluttony.  It's kind of stupid to overdo it on earth anyways, because you don't take anything to heaven with you besides your soul. Peace~
