Westside Connection - Superstar (Double murder=double platnum)
« on: January 11, 2004, 10:37:16 PM »
It's probably already been discussed, but I don't get a chance to scroll the board that often anymore.

That IS Kokane on the chorus of Supastar isn't it?  Sounds like him, but no credits are given in the linear notes.

It could be interpreted that way. I personally think it is.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

No, Bruce Waynne from Midi-Mafia sings the chorus on Gotta Have Heart...

I don't think it's a diss towards 50 or G-Unit in the sense that WSC think they're wack or something, but they're mad of the fact that 50 got that maad hype when he got shot up.

And they've got every right to be. It's pretty fucked up that things like that bring you recognition and your record sales go up. IMO though 50 deserves to have fame & fortune for his music, but the hype when he was coming out was just ridiculous. It was (mostly) for all the wrong reasons (part of it was rightfully, again IMO, due to Wanksta.)
