Look how we treat people once they become celebrities.  They're no longer human to us, and in our greed to love them, we totally hurt them.

NEW YORK  — A doctor accused of coercing ailing ex-Beatle George Harrison (search) into signing a guitar offered on Wednesday to donate the instrument to charity.

A lawyer for Harrison's relatives rejected Dr. Gilbert Lederman's (search) offer as "spin" and said they would not drop a lawsuit against the Staten Island cancer specialist, who treated Harrison.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses Lederman of holding Harrison's hand and forcing him to sign the physician's son's guitar over the weakened musician's protestations.

The ex-Beatle died in November 2001, about two weeks after the signing. He was 58.

Lederman's attorney, Wayne Roth, responded in an e-mailed statement Wednesday that: "Dr. Lederman developed a close personal relationship with Mr. Harrison, who freely autographed his son's guitar."

Lederman would like to donate the guitar, which has been valued at less than $10,000, to a charity agreed upon by the doctor and Harrison's estate, Roth wrote.

An attorney for the musician's estate said it was "a ludicrous attempt to put a positive spin on what Dr. Lederman did."

"The Harrison family does not want this object that was obtained in such a cruel and abusive manner to be traded, sold and displayed in the future," Harrison attorney Paul LiCalsi said.

that's fucking SICKENING that a doctor would treat a dying man like this.  I know you're thinking "what's the big deal, he didn't hurt him" but I think he did hurt him.  A man, for one, who lived his life celebrating existentialism and rejecting material things, is dying on your watch, and you have the audacity to practically force one of his dying moments to be you stealing an autograph from him, when he had more important things to worry about.  How about treating the guy like a fucking human being for pete's sake.  It's even worse that it was George Harrison he did it to, this was one of the sweetest people, he had an amazing heart and yet gets treated like a fucking mannequin even on his death bed.  His entire life to this doctor was worth a fucking quarter ounce of ink.

They settled this yesterday.  The doctor agreed to destroy the guitar, and the Harrison family agreed to give the doctor's son a new guitar.

anytime a celeb does something "wrong", it's a big scandal and ppl hate on him and shit... like if someone would care if it was some buster next door who flirted wit another woman during marriage or somethin.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard.  Its a discrace that the doctor has to destory the guitar with the signature on.  Basically if George didnt want him to have the signature then he wouldent of done it.

Lol, O.K, that's a little bit of a logic jump.

Dude, I really doubt George Harrison really cared about giving out an autograph...It's not like the doctor made him cut a piece of his ear off, and sowed it to his shirt...WOW! HE ASKED FOR AN AUTOGRAPH!!! HOW ABUSIVE!!

Yall don't know shit about George Harrison.  He didn't like performing, and he didn't like signing autographs.  He was on his death bed, and couldn't even lift his hand to sign an autograph, tried to resist, and the guy held his hand up and forced him to sign the guitar.  Akward at best, assault at worst

Did George Harrison tell you this personally?

I actually feel sorry for the little kid involved.  Imagine if your dad was a doctor and he told you he was treating somebody who is like your hero, of course you would ask your dad to try and get him the celebs autograph.

If he could'nt lift his hand to sign the autograph then how did he actually sign the autograph.  I very much doubt the doctor held the guitar in his hand and moved it around to form the perfect George Harrison sig.
