Best Beat Of All Time Tournament
« on: January 18, 2004, 04:12:03 AM »
After seeing how many replies the thread about what people considered to be the best beat ever received, I thought it would be cool if we had a tournament to find out what the board considers to be the best beat ever. So, to start with everyone list the five beats you consider to be the best in order of 1 to 5. List the artist, the song title and then the producer in brackets. In two days (20th) at 6pm UK time, I will tally the number of nominations each beat has received (weighted with number 1 choices receiving ten points, number 2, 8 points, etc), and I will put the top 16 beats into groups for the next stage of voting. So get voting.

A lot of beats I see here are very dope but.. They're old. And every beat becomes outdated at some time, so why don't any of you choose new sounding beats?

CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.

Um....Why should we choose new sounding beats when these beats we're choosing are ALL better than anything new? They're outdated to you. Go bump some Swizz Beats.

1. Shook Ones Pt. II (Mobb Deep /produced by Havoc)
2. Nuthin But A G Thang (Dre & Snoop / produced by Dr. Dre)
3. New York State Of Mind (Nas / produced by DJ Premier)
4. Just Step (Mobb Deep / produced by The Abstract)
5. C.R.E.A.M. (Wu-Tang Clan / produced by the RZA)

Right now, I would choose a Kanye West beat over Deep Cover.
I love Deep Cover and the melody is still great but if we're talking about beats I wouldn't choose Deep Cover. It's like with cars, if you would ask a person what he would rather drive, a car that was the best in '92 or a car that's the best right now, he would probaly choose the last.

Well, thats you. All this new shit fizzles out after a while. The shit I listed is timeless. Still bumps like it's new. And, cars are a different story. That was a shitty comparison. But, if you want to take it that way. Plenty people would choose a Classic car over some new car. They were made better back in the day.
