Kings in BC were even called The Son Of God
« on: May 12, 2002, 04:41:29 AM »
I was reading an analysis of the Dead Sea Scrolls.  It was a Judeo-Christian author and he mentioned that the description of Jesus as the Son of God, was not uncommon nor unique.  He pointed out that in BC times, Kings were often referred to as sons of God which only meant, "highly annointed."

I am a son of god, they call me that every sunday in chutch.  Everyone on earth is a son or daugher of god.  Jesus was the physical son of god.  It's two different things.

how do you know they meant it in that way though, i mean what if jesus said something like that and didnt mean he was the physical son of god but just the way we are all sons of god, and the people he told it to misunderstood and wrote the bible

The entire old testament points to the coming of the messiah, also, as being just that, the 'lamb of god', the only begotten son of god.  That's why people sacrificed the first born lambs of their flocks to the lord, so they showed they were willing to do on a lesser extent what god was going to do for them (sacrifice his son).  That's why Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son, etc. etc. etc. there's 1,000 things in the old testament that point to Jesus being the literal son of god, one of a kind, so when him and his proclaimed it in the new testament, it's no big surprise.  Read.

Us Muslims aren't saying anything, I said I read this from a Judeo-Christian author, it was just an interesting point to make, that when they called Jesus the Son of God, it could have been taken out of context, I mean alot of ya'll believe that he is infact God.

It all comes down to faith.  You don't have to believe anything, and if you don't want to believe Jesus was the son of god, you're not going to.  I know he's the son of god, so it's all good.  There's no proof that Jesus was the son of god, so if you need proof, you're not going to get any, the only thing that will confirm it to you is prayer.
