MURS disses white kids, 2pac fans
« on: February 22, 2004, 12:35:58 PM »
Any white boy who thinks he knows my struggle
cause he listens to Pac and his adrenalin doubles
now I ain't got problems with you being yourself
but when you front and use the "n" word, it just don't help
I might not trip, and your friends'll laugh at you
I know some real niggas that will straight up slap you
Now you can be down, but let's act grown up
cause we ain't the same color when police show up
My culture's not a trend, being black is not in
But for you it's just a phase you're gonna have to transcend
Even if I tried I could never blend in
To society's mainstream, American dream
Yeah it's all one love, but remember one thing
This music is my life, not a cultural fling
It's an expression of the soul when we dance and sing
And you were blessed to have a chance to even glance the scene
and this is for....

Man I do the same music, they stop coming to shows
It's like they scared of them white boys in the front row
First, I was like, "So, I'ma get my dough"
but the numbers kept falling, as my fan base would grow
but now I'm concerned, so I got to speak up
First the money was the only thing shutting me up
But now I don't care, don't support me, get mad
Why wouldn't you abort(?) me, my own people have
I feel I should have the same scans that white rappers have
it's sad that's the way it is.
What's the reason my album don't sell like his?
Don't front like you don't know why the hell that it is.
It's because he's white, you can relate to his face'
Through the years you been taught that black is unsafe
Plus it's only natural for your own to be embraced
Conscious of subconscious, you can't say that ain't the case
Only reason it took so long to take place
Was up until to now, your only choice was Third Bass
Cause others like Ice, wasn't really that tight
Now you got some white dudes who can truly rock a mic
You relate to their stories cause you share that past
Question is, "Why would you listen to Murs' black ass?"
I ask myself for a while but now I finally get it
Good music transcends all physical limits
It's more than something that you hear
It's something that you feel
when the offer and experience and passion is real
used to feel I should be silent
I was scared to do this song
I want everyone aware of what is going on
Yes it is Jazz, and yes it is the blues,
Yes it is the exact same way they did rock
But I refuse to watch the same thing happen to hip hop
I refuse to watch that bull shit....

And this is for......

When will this racism shit stop?????????????????????????????????????? :'(

He ain't dissin' Eminem... He just says the thing everybody else, Eminem included, has said: Em's records, although very good records, only sell SO good 'cause Em's white. Then he talks about how fucked up that is, how one man can sell more than others 'cause he looks different.

He isn't dissin' whites being rappers in any way:
"Was up until to now, your only choice was Third Bass
Cause others like Ice, wasn't really that tight
Now you got some white dudes who can truly rock a mic"

The only people he disses are the dumb white kids who think being black is cool and the people who have made hip-hop into some sort of trend and not paying tribute to the culture that it is. And those people deserve to be dissed too.

The lyrics are tight though, what song is this? What album is it on?

Hmmm....bein that this is my blood cousin who I am pretty close with him and his brother, I have to speak up on this song.

Now bein that I am black, it's a given that I see these types of songs in a different light than most whites will. But I'll say for one, it's no way that he is dissin all white dudes for one, and he'll tell you, most of his fanbase is white. Thing is, a lot of what he says is true.

"Any white boy who thinks he knows my struggle
cause he listens to Pac and his adrenalin doubles
now I ain't got problems with you being yourself
but when you front and use the "n" word, it just don't help
I might not trip, and your friends'll laugh at you
I know some real niggas that will straight up slap you
Now you can be down, but let's act grown up
cause we ain't the same color when police show up"

Now the first line, he doesn't say "every white boy who listens to rap" he says "any white boy who thinks he knows my struggle" which is the only people he is talkin to. I know exactly what he talks about. There are some white dudes who try waay to hard to be black, and almost feel as if they are black just because of what they listen to. Also, pleaaase change your subject, u said he dissed 2Pac fans? U are makin him look a lot worst than you should be, and I am not offended but I jus think that it's bullshit u know.

He does rap on a touchy subject, and he might lose some fans for it, but he is speakin pretty much truth. He is not dissin anybody for no solid reason. It is a BIG difference from dissin every white who listened to blacks, to SPEAKIN on whites who feel as if they are black because they listen to rap. The same can be said about people like me who don't gangbang, but listen to gangsta rap. Because some people listen to it and feel as if they went through what the gangsta rappers went through, even though they never gangbanged in their life, and never experienced anything close to it, yet they want to imitate it and act as if they went through it just from hearin gangsta rap. Murs has spoke about these types of rappers as well.

I hope this cleared some things up.

LOL...and I just played the song...why didn't you type the first verse and say how he "dissed" black people, and how he "dissed" commercial rappers??

He speaks about the bullshit goin on with blacks, thugs, ice, cars, etc. etc. first verse, but you didn't even say anything about that. So he "dissed" them just as much as he "dissed" all white people, Eminem, and 2Pac fans.

yeah.. but for now.. is it a gimmick?

what about when more profficient white MCs come up and are fighting for the spot.. yeah eminems got it locked.. but what about the next generation.. anything could happen..

i feel some points in that song, especially later on.. a very very good point made is the one about whites feeling white rappers more because they rap more about 'white things'...

if whites are the majority buying force in rap music (even if just through sheer numbers... not as a percentage of their population) then tapping that could be lucrative.. and obviously.. with wider exposure, and due to its nature hiphop is attracting all colours and creeds.

Eminem also sells units because he's innovative and talented, people often forget this...why dont you see White Dawg, Lil Wyte, or Stagga Lee or somebody moving the same kind of units?  And regardless of what race he is, he's controversial.  I'm not saying that his race isnt a factor in how many records he sells, just dont forget he's a dope MC.  Anyway I havent heard the Murs song for myself so I guess I cant really get too deep into this subject, so I guess if I ever listen to it maybe I'll have a little more to say.

He didn't say white people don't have any struggles. He spoke about those who think they have the same struggles he has, just because they listen to rappers like Pac.

Murs is tight...

Some of you may disagree with what he says, but who cares. I don't agree with everything Daz says but I'll still listen to him cause he puts out dope shit. Murs is the same. He puts out good music, and I'll listen to it regardless.

The Struggles minorities speak about are social. Something whites can never relate to. Try being profiled at all times due to your skin color.
