American driving-practice: worthless ??
« on: August 19, 2002, 06:11:32 PM »
It's a question, not mocking.
It seems like the American ppl can get a driving-license as long as they have OK vision, and isn't retarded.

Here in Norway, lots of American ppl go up to a new driving-test before they can get the European version of the drivers license, and I hear a lot of funny stories about Americans who fail their test barely before the test has started.

Some of em say that they took the license-test in 5-10 minutes in the U.S., all they had to do was to make some turns and reverse a few meters (feet)
So how is it really over there?

Though I heard people talk about how bad European drivers are. Like they go extremely fast, and don't watch what they are doing. In Minnesota, people here though drive just straight awful. In Cali, it's too damn crowded, but people drive better, just a little crazy in terms of changing lanes in stuff. In the I.E. though, we got to have the best drivers, 'cause I usually feel safe driving... though I did say usually.

wtf this is crazy............

what the hells the mortality rate there?!

over here........

1) you have to pass a 35 question 'theory test' before you're even allowed to book the practical.

2) the practical is 45 mins long. you have to drive on many types of roads and perform 3 moves without faults.

i guess our roads must pretty safe.

Hell yea, I was in Rome once, and it was a total chaos.
The only 2 rules they got there is:

1. If a car drives faster than you, it's the slower cars fault if they crash.
2. Pedestrians better watch it, even if they got a green man.
Cars can drive on red light.

And also they apparently has a parking-rule:

1. When parked, the car must be no longer than 1 cm (or 0.3 inches) from the next parked car. If it actually TOUCHES the next car, you have done a very good job. Scratches in the next car doesn't matter, it's just a car.

the driving test in the US is one of the easiest tests I have ever taken.  I am sorry if I offend anyone, but if you can't pass it on the first try then you are retarded.

AC:

I can understand Cali would be crowded but the majority of American roads would be far less crowded than English ones.

Oh written test in California I think is like 50 questions if I remember and you can only miss 7. Then you take an eye test, and have behind the wheel. If your under 18, you now must go to school for driving, so you can take the written test. Most school districts took out drivers ed too now, so people are paying like $200 to learn to drive. Then you need so many hours behind the wheel, I think like 30 or 60, before you can take your behind the wheel drivers test. You get points taken of for errors, and certain things like running a red light, stop light, or hitting something, is an automatic falure. I missed 13 points 'cause the instructer didn't like my eye movement, but I was getting used to my glasses. But anyways, we got 15 points to work with, so I passed. And also Cali drivers, except those with road rage, are usually much more laid back than other drivers in the nation. I drove from Cali to Minnesota, and people are fucken nutts across this country.

And there is no way traffic can be worst than Cali, 'cause you don't move in traffic, and freeways like the 10, 405, and 5 are basically parking lots. Bad driving is not really that bad for the extreme numbers of drivers, it's more road rage that just pisses people of. One car can fuck up a grip of peoples day. But compare Cali to Minnesota, 'cause that's all I know outside Cali, people basically go to the DMV, take a book, study it, when they turn 16, they take the test, past, and shortly take behind the wheel and get a license. And though you can do that after you turn 18 in Cali, most people go to the damn school and watch those damn movies 'cause your a loser if you don't have your license by 16, at least for guys. Maybe women are bad drivers 'cause they don't do all that school stuff 'cause guys feel more pressure to drive. I might be on to something ::) Oh well, still, in Cali, no car, no girls.
