I know exactly what you're saying 'seer.  I've noticed my own mistakes in spelling and it is mainly because I type faster than I think sometimes or I go on to another point without proper punctuation.  You however pointed out mistakes in tense and subject verb agreement.  Great Dane said presents in place of presence I noticed it too. the They're/Their/There thing I've noticed a lot too.  also to where a too should have been.  I try to use the correct tense in my posts but as I said before most of my speling mistakes are because I type faster than I think sometimes.  It's not an american thing it is an ignorant thing.  Much like Don Rizzle saying some simple british Lock Stock bullshit saying Americans don't understand....of course we don't it's fuckin drunk brit speek!  It is a problem with laziness and tense agreement for a lot of us not a spelling thing.

another thing about americans they can't understand simple rhyming slang, i can understand stuff certain things where you have to know the story behind the word (eg april means arse, learnt that friday nite). but if i were to say i going for a johnny cash or whats the bird line they wouldn't understand, but then again who gives an aylesbury duck!

 ???

What the hell are you saying? lol
johnny cash = slash (piss i dunno if u american use that as its probably english slang ne way) bird line = time (ppl also use bird as in doing time in prison) and aylesbury duck = fuck (aylesbury is famous for its duck, hence the phrase)

I'm not American, and I still have no clue what you're talking about.  I think those phrases are only used in your area of the world.  lol.

dont take this the wrong way.. but some of ya'll really can't spell for shit, ya got good grammar, then... :(

i'm no spelling bee champion (we dont have those here  :D) but i see some really really fundamental mistakes daily in this place... often appears to the the same words.

its a broad thing.. just wondered if any of you guys have noticed this..

first noticed it obvously with infinite who claimed to be an english major or training to be a teacher or something.. but many more of you do too.

i cant be the only one to have noticed this.. i think trauma can spell tho.. lol

Man, I won't even get into it, lol but basically the school system is failing everybody in America.  Nobody wants to be there, the teachers don't like it, the kids run free and do whatever they want, the parents don't do anything at home, on and on and on.

yeah i kinda figured that.. because I've really wondered how the hell college educated people here can't spell!

i've wondered this for a long long time.

thing is, its often the same mistakes, and the same words.. which is why i've hooked on phonics thing.. it teaches you to spell by listening right? but if two words sound the same.. it kinda teaches you wrong?

Well, I thought I'd get into it a little more.

What made me start noticing how fucked up the schools are, is when a girl I know became a teacher.  She teaches 1st grade... that's 6 year olds.  She can't hug them, it's against school policies.

The schools have became so terrorized over things being done the wrong way, and lawsuits, and loopholes and shit, that they have no balls anymore.  A teacher can't hug a child.  That has nothing to do with learning; but it's just symbolic of how things have changed for the worse.

As far as learning goes, teachers can't fail kids that fuck up.  In the old days, you were afraid of your teacher, because he would fail you, suspend you, etc. Now the teachers (or most) have absolutely no control over their classrooms so nobody does any work.  They just skate by.

I owe nearly everything I am to the work my teachers and my father did when I was a kid.  I had teachers, from the time I was in Kindergarten till at least 5th grade, and then again subject specific teachers in jr. high and High school that went out of their way to make learning fun and exciting.  My dad helped me out too, not so much taking tests and studying and things, but from the time I was born, he talked to me, taught me things, took me places, showed me how to do things, answered my questions.  Parents don't always do that, so kids don't always learn.

I cant say I've actually noticed this really.  I've noticed the odd spelling mistake here and there but I always presume its because people type fast, typo's, different languages, slang, and other shit.  Like me, if I make an error when I am typing on this board I will most likely leave it as it is rather than actually spending time clicking, deleting, typing and scrolling, dunno if ya'll do the same.

"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

^ That may be a lot of it too, I know I've intentionally left things misspelled because I didn't care, like Bez mentioned.

My mom works in an Elementary school, she can't even touch the students let alone hug them.

DISGUSTING.  That, and yall can call me whatever the hell you want, but I hope it makes people understand me a little more... that is one of the most horrible things I've ever heard of.  The girl I knew showed me how, if a 6 year old kid comes running up to her with her arms out, she has to turn to her side and pat the girl on the back or something, so she's not touching her or hugging her or anything.  Sickening, I think.

If the world wasn't so rough and tough and evil and dark sometimes, we'd all be running around hugging each other.  Children don't know about the bad in the world, and naturally, from nature, from god, from birth, from whatever, they instinctively know how to love and hug and things like that... and in our schools, we reject that, cast away their nature to love, and turn 5 year olds and 6 year olds into minature versions of our own cold, calloused selves.  That's sickening to me.
