XXL King of New York
« on: March 18, 2004, 04:15:43 PM »
Did any of yall read the article in XXL recently profiling who they thought were the top New York rappers?
Here's how the list went:

1.Nas
2.50 Cent
3.Jadakiss
4.Ghostface Killah
5.Cam'ron

The list went on but I stopped reading after they put 50's ass over Jada and Cam'ron. 50 Cent better than Jadakiss? 50's flow aint even that great he ain't got shit on Jada. And as for Cam'ron, Cam's got the whole city on his dick, everybody wearin pink and hollerin' Dipset!!! he also got a wicked flow too. 50's just got commercial appeal and that sure as shit doesent make you a better rapper, it just helps you sell. I ain't mad at XXL or nothin, just that was poor decision making I think, i don't know about yall...
aka Gas and a Match aka Don't let your girl in the club or we're all gonna fuck her!

The King of anywhere is not just who is the best rapper, but also battle skillz, which 50 fucked up Ja Rule, and also has to do with commercial sucess, and street rep, which 50 has for days and days. No king has been as great as Big, but honestly, those that put Big on your list, his been dead for 7 years, it's time to move on. It really is time to move on.

Terrible list. Where's Rakim? Pharoah Monche? Canibus? 50 number 2? Cam'ron on the list at all? Whack.

Well rakim hasn't exactly been keeping busy lately... These "king of such and such" things change every year, often more than once during each year. The next time somebody releases a new, great album, that guy will be the "king of such & such" - be it New York, Cali, Dirrty South, Pimpin', the underground, Bling Bling (although there's not so much of that going on in music nowadays, thank God) - what ever.

Well rakim hasn't exactly been keeping busy lately...

Atleast Rakim has released an album more recently than Mos Def or Lloyd Banks (who were on the list).

And don't see how they ranked credibility.  Nas' example was terrible, weren't those two quotes from like eight years apart?  That was hadly a condradiction, can't people be in different moods or change thier mind about something?
Herb Quote Of The Year[/u]

CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.
