Accent Debates down under.

The hip hop scene of homegrown artists in Australia is growing all the time, but there is one great debate that i won't to get your opinion of.
As you know Australians have their own accents and Americans also have their own accent. The majority of aussie hip hop is rapped in an Australian accent but their is still a lot of people who were born, breed + raised Australian that rap in an American accent.
Many poeple in the aussie hip hop scene see this as just being straight up fake, which i also beleive.
Wat are ur opinions on this???
Peace.
PS. Down reply saying aussie hip hop is wack and would sound like the crocadile hunter rapping. We have some dope homegrown hip hop + i can prove it.

I don't like listening to rap with a non-American accent...And even when they try to fake their accents, it still doesn't sound right...

They're fake bitches if they rap in an American accent and speak in an Aussie one.

IMO it's fake and since most of those cats prolly sound like australians tryina sound american rather than like actual americans so it'd kinda sound stupid to me. i'd stick to my accent, if it's a funny one then that's tuff luck

We had the same issue in UK hiphop for a long time, but it recent years rappers seemed to have realised its better to rap in an English accent because that is what they sound most natural doing. Rapping in a fake American accent just sounds stupid.

How do they go about getting a fake accent? why would they, although as SCcit said anything non american sounds a bit harsh to me, like Dizzy Rascal.

i like some aussie hip hop..
1200 techniques live fucking ripped it before green lantern performed here in perth.
in response to the whole accent thing though, i don't mind as long as i like what i'm hearing..
don't hate so easily and be quick to say shit's "fake"
ever hear the lead singer from Garbage speak ? full blown Irish accent.. yet her singing sounds un-accented..
it's just a style..
a lot of these artists would be heavily influenced by mainstream rap, which americans have the majority.. so when trying to find their style, would probably mimic their american counterparts to an extent..
it happens all the time in music..
Celine Dion is another example.. you couldn't tell she had a harsh canadian accent from hearing her songs..
who cares.. so long as you like what you hear.
