Mase Returns!
« on: March 30, 2004, 03:20:46 AM »
Rapper turned pastor Mason "Ma$e" Betha is planning to return to his roots as a rapper.

The Harlem World member, who experienced life changing success as a rapper left the business in 1999 to preach.

Ma$e is in talks to reunite with his former manager Cudda Love, who also founded Fo'Reel Entertainment, the label that houses Platinum rapper Nelly, Murphy Lee, Ali and the St. Lunatics.

"I am grateful for all the blessings bestowed on me that were a result of my music career," Ma$e said when he announced his retirement in 1999. "Now it's time for me to serve God in His way. The Lord sends you messages when He's ready and not necessarily when we are."

While Ma$e may return and end up with Fo'Reel, he is still under contract to Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment.

Fo'Reel is attempting to structure a deal with Bad Boy that will allow Ma$e to record his new untitled album.

If the album is released, it would be a Hip-Hop album with no profanity that would touch on relevant social issues.

There's alot of money in preaching the gospel.  Just drive in your city and look at the size of the hundreds of churches.  Mase said in his book he was making as much preaching as he did rappin.

on a tangent.....even though i'm not a CHRISTIAN,
there are some pretty dope christian rappers out there i bet ya'll would like...i used to listen to a bunch of christian rap music cuz it was new to me back then and every now and then i take a look at what's comin out, but i've found that there's a handful of pretty dope christian mc's. if anyone is gonna go look, i would highly recommend this dude called "phanatik" from "the cross movement" he's
dropped some of the dopest verses i ever heard (AND I'M NOT EVEN A CHRISTIAN!)

"...If i could rhyme for forever, TWICE/
you wouldn't have heard one third of the words we could use to describe CHRIST"

but i would seriously recommend this album called "House of Representatives" by "The Cross Movement" or "Heaven's Mentality" by the Cross movement.

there's this dude that sounds a lot like Bone THugs, named "Antonious" and he's got a dope style too. I'd recommend the album "good vs. evil."

and this dude "nuwine", he's got a load of christian albums and even did a song on the 5th ward boyz compilation with the ghetto boys.

my OG favorite though is this dude called "lil raskull", i just like his mix of beats and lyrics. they're not all that complex, but he was the easiest for me to listen to when i first heard christian rap.....

i don't know if ya'll remember, but this dude "frankie cutlass" did a christian album after his "politics and bullsh*t" release on tommy boy. i haven't heard the whole thing, but i heard a couple tracks that i was feelin....
