Just a child but didn't know why mommy would duck-an-cry,
Til the day I saw fists fly, from then on I'd look-an-spy,
When I saw my daddy beatin, I'd just stare-and-watch,
Asked God to hold him back but he was rare-ta-stops,
Until mommy was in tears, why didn't you care-ma-pop's,
Pushin mommy til she grabbed her mothers photo she couldn't bare-ta-drop,
Why couldn't you love her for who she is, so beautiful not black-an-blue,
After the beatin you'd grab your coat & pipe and scream I'll be back-at-two,

Mommy weepin echoes crept up the stairs, could you bare it, well this jack-had-too,

I turned and headed off to bed and I tried-to-sleep,
Voices and noises would haunt me so I cried-an-weap,
I'd see ma daddy in the morning and I tried-to-speak,
Scared bones in a little body, I was too tired-an-weak,
Daddy just stared at me and he knew he lost her-for-life,
It didn't really matter to me cos in my heart shes there-for-life,
But for him he lost his soul, but a woman he beat, he never cared-to-wife,
Presented her with suicidal oppertunities, she held the knife but never dared-ta-slice,

Daddy dropped me at school, watched him wave-so-sad,
In his heart of hearts he didn't know what made him behave-so-bad,
He found out that eventually that the slaves-go-dad,
He was trying to keep love at bay, loves what we all crave-so-bad,
After school I was waitin for Daddy-in-the-truck,
Many hours I spent standin, but daddy-never-showed-up,
Teacher came and told me that daddy-had-got-drunk,
Tried to explain that he drove into the river and daddys-car-had-sunk,
And thats my story, thats my life, thats me-since-five,
No education, no job, just being whatever I gotta be-to-survive,
