Jay-Z is the best rapper in the game right now, he shouldnt be retiring.  His flow, lyrics, word play are unbelieveable and he knows how 2 make good albums! "my burners give niggaz, permanant heart murmurs"

"There's never been a nigga this good for this long
This hood, or this pop, this hot, or this strong
With so many different flows there's one for this song
The next one I switch up, this one will get bit up
These fucks, too lazy to make up shit, they crazy
They don't, paint pictures, they just, trace me
You know what? Soon they forget where they plucked
they whole style from, they try to reverse the outcome
I'm like - TOUGH!
I'm not a biter I'm a writer for myself and others
I say a B.I.G. verse, I'm only biggin up my brother
Biggin up my borough, I'm big enough to do it
I'm that thorough, plus I know my own flow is foolish
So them rings and things you sing about, bring 'em out
It's hard to yell when the bar-rell's in your mouth
I'm in - new sneakers, dual-seaters
Few divas, what more can I tell you?
Let me spell it for you
Double-U I, double-L, I-E
Nobody truer than, H-O-V
And I'm back for more, New York's ambassador
Prime Minister, back to finish my business up..."

Everything he puts out IMO is retarted.

Seriously I rather listen to Nelly or Ja Rule  :)

dude...you think cam'ron is one of the greats  ::)

as far as those singles you listed...yeah those were wack...but then again...you've only heard his radio shit obviously if your judging jay-z by those 5 singles. i could name probably 100 jay-z songs that are easily straight up dope hip hop.

everything about him is horrible renegade is prolly the only song i like from him
word... and the only reason I like it is because of Em's  incredible verses..
first I didnt like him really much as a rapper... now I dont like him as a person...keywords: jay-z-"retireing"-sean carter-!
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

you should slap yourself for that...Jay is hip hop, lyrically killin everybody in the game

"Motherfuckers -
say that I'm foolish I only talk about jewels (bling bling)
Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?
See I'm influenced by the ghetto you ruined
That same dude you gave nothin', I made somethin doin'
what I do through and through and
I give you the news - with a twist it's just his ghetto point-of-view
The renegade; you been afraid
I penetrate pop culture, bring 'em a lot closer to the block where they
pop toasters, and they live with they moms
Got dropped roasters, from botched robberies niggaz crotched over
Mommy's knocked up cause she wasn't watched over
Knocked down by some clown when child support knocked
No he's not around - now how that sound to ya, jot it down
I bring it through the ghetto without ridin 'round
hidin down duckin strays from frustrated youths stuck in they ways
Just read a magazine that fucked up my day
How you rate music that thugs with nothin relate to it?
I help them see they way through it - not you
Can't step in my pants, can't walk in my shoes
Bet everything you worth; you lose your tie and your shirt" -

'Renegade' Feat Eminem

^^LOL...Isn't that the track where Eminem ripped the fuck out of him?

All I can say about Jay-Z is...Overrated.
