Xzibit – Restless

1. Intro
2. Front 2 back…Perfect production.  It fits X’s flow perfectly.  The delivery, content and flow matches well here.  Catchy hook.  The song is too short though.  5/5
3. Been a long time…Cool, laidback beat finds Xzibit flowing nicely. Nate Dogg provides a melodic chorus.  The hook sounds a bit corny, but it still sounds good.  4/5
4. U know…Great beat by Dr. Dre.  X lays down two great verses and then Dre finishes up on the final verse with some dope lines.  5/5
5. X…Tight, catchy piano loop with some kickdrums.  Tight delivery and lyrical content.  Nice hook.  4.5/5
6. Alkaholik…X puts down a good verse to start off the song and then Tha Liks and Erick Sermon finish it off with some decent verses.  Catchy chorus.  The beat gets somewhat repetitive.  3.5/5
7. Kenny Parker Show 2001…KRS-One opens up the track with an intro and finishes with the outro.  Xzibit puts down a tight flow non-stop with no chorus.  The flow gets increasingly better throughout the track.  Not really feeling the beat though.  3.5/5
8. D.N.A. (Drugs-N-Alkahol)…Dope flow from X on the first and third verses.  Snoop appears on the second verse to lay down a tight flow.  Fairly simple production, but a catchy hook.  3.5/5
9. Double time…Right away, the beat turns me off of the things song.  It gets sort of annoying the way X repeats the first word of every line twice.  2.5/5
10.   Don’t approach me…A great track explaining the difference between a star and a regular person.  X lays down some tight lines.  Eminem adds his verses with well-crafted lyrics.  Both X and Em paint a perfect picture of what they’re expaining.  5/5
11.   Rimz & tirez…Production sounds similar to Dogg Pound’s “Big Pimpin’”.  Features Defari and Goldie Loc.  Decent verses.  Kokane’s hook is boring and not too creative.  3.5/5
12.   Fuckin’ you right…The production sounds like a sick version of regae.  Obviously a fuck song.  Average track.  3/5
13.   Best of things…Great beat and a perfect flow by X.  Butch Cassidy lends his vocals for the hook which is amazing.  5/5
14.   Get your walk on…This beat sounds like it’s mixed with an 80’s song.  Tight lyrics and dope flow.  3.5/5
15.   Sorry I’m away so much…Great beat that fits the content well.  Xzibit spits a personal verse for his son.  DJ Quik appears with a good verse and Suga Free ends the track with a chorus-like verse.  4/5
16.   Loud & clear…Great production and a dope flow from X, Defari, and King T.  Butch Cassidy lays down another perfect fitting chorus.  4.5/5

OVERALL…4/5

Xzibit has always been a great lyricist, but he never had the right production to match his intense flow until “Restless”.  X continues with his raw, well though of lyrics over some quality produced tracks.  Some tracks lagged in the production department, but X makes up for that with his intense flow and delivery.  Nice selection of dope tracks.

I agree with everything but Get your Walk On, that is probably the best beat on the album and Xzibit kills it with some great rhymes. The remix doesn't even come close.

I would give it a 3 or 3.5 out of 5. I honestly do't think Dre and X make a good combo. He should stick to his "Speed of Life" formula.
