Who's picking up that new Prince album?
« on: April 17, 2004, 08:08:29 PM »
I'm hoping to make a trip to the mall next weekend to pick it up, that new track Musicology is dope as hell.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

I'll give it a listen but I haven't really liked anything from prince since the mid 80s.

If the album is anything like the first single then I'll definitely be picking this up.

Picked it up in my lunch break. Got handed a free newspaper on the way to work and it gave it the thumbs up, so thought I'd give it a try.

I can already see the fold out cover giving me grief.

Gave it a couple of listens - it's some good shit ;)

Stand out tracks on first listen - 'A Million Days', 'Call My Name', 'Dear Mr Man' and 'Reflection'.

The fold out cover's giving me grief btw.

I read that, I wish he'd brought it to Canada.

Uppin to see if some people who got it could give a small review.

It's a solid album. There are a couple of average tracks, but nothing below that, and that's kind of rare from Prince - IMO he usually has at least one or two shitty tracks on an album.

Lincoln, I saw in that other thread that you just got Gold Experience. If you like that I think you'll like this. It's the same kind of 'pop' feel to most of it. I'd cop it ;)

And when you do, remember this - 'Dear Mr Man' is the shit! (Playing it now)

i never bought a prince album in my life but i was in a music shop the other day and i skipped through the tracks and it sounded tight.
