Ice Cube – Bootlegs & B-Sides

1. Robbin’ hood…Raw Cube lyrics.  Thumpin’, unique beat.  4/5
2. What can I do? (remix)…The remix is 10 times better than the original.  The lyrics didn’t seem to go well with the original beat, but they really fit here.  Displays good storytelling.  5/5
3. 24 wit an L…Obviously an older song.  Average beat, but Cube’s lyrics make this song.  3/5
4. You know how we do it (remix)…The original is better, but this one is almost just as good.  More of a laidback beat, with a couple of added lines at the end.  4.5/5
5. 2 n the morning…This track would’ve fit nicely on ‘Death Certificate’.  It’s a decent track.  3.5/5
6. Check yo self (remix)…This should have been the original version.  A lot better than the original.  The lyrics come alive with this version.  5/5
7. You don’t wanna fuck with these…Up-tempo beat catches Cube flowing faster.  Sounds good. Raw ass lyrics.   4/5
8. Lil ass gee (remix)…Production has a dark feel to it.  Again, the beat fits the lyrics a lot better than the original version did.  4/5
9. My skin is my sin…Tight ass beat and nice verses by Cube and W.C.  4/5
10.   It was a good day (remix)…Of course, nothing can touch the original version.  Production sounds like a symphony orchestra, which still fits the lyrics.  4.5/5
11.   U ain’t gonna take my life…A good fuck the police song.  4.5/5
12.   When I get to Heaven (remix)…Another song from ‘Lethal Injection’ where the remix sounds better the original.  The piano is a nice touch.  4/5
13.   D’voidofpopniggafiedmegamix…Outro.  A mix of different lyrics.

OVERALL…8.5/10

Really, only one song is worth skipping here.  Some tight unreleased songs and remixes.  Four songs are remixes from Lethal Injection, which, with the exception of ‘You know how we do it’, are a lot better than the originals.  His lyrics fit much better with the production that more fits his style.  Well put-together album.

I don't like those greatest hits or bootlegs and b-sides albums although they might contain one or two nice unreleased tracks. Cube's "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" and "Death Certificate" are almost perfect because they've got a concept and don't sound like compilations.
