LL - the GOAT
« on: April 30, 2002, 05:11:24 PM »
I thought the GOAT album was a HUGE letdown, especially considering the title.  Just claiming that status doesn't make it so.  And LL's response to Canibus?  Weak.  I have respect for his history and contributions to the music, but you have to keep bringing heat to stay on top.
Any other opinions on this?

I liked this album. Definitely not his best work but better than Phenomenon.

Hmmm...I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a huge letdown, but it did have some low points. I think some of the samples were just tired (LL Cool J = Biggie's Kick in the Door, Take It Off = Q-Tip's Breath & Stop) But there were definately some bangers there - the track with Red and Meth was dope for a Trackmasters' beat, the one with Mobb Deep was nice and the title track was on top volume for me for weeks. And way, way, way, way, WAY nicer than that Phenomenon bullshit...
