yo nik, you and xz are both my homies, and he's just posting his opinion it's like my thang with that other dude who couldn't except my opinion on Dirty i don't like them, xz isn't feeling the same stuff as you ....DEAL WITH IT i mean damn NIK you can be cool but you can REALLY act like dick hole sometimes , just chill and don't get all riled up just cuz he don't think 2001 is a classic, it's not like he's being buligerantly biased and saying "i don't like this album becuase dre is fat"....he has a logical reason for not feeling it as much as you he just doesn't feel it as much as others, that's HIS opinion

PEACE...and i mean that y'all

i think those are some fair reviews. but  first of all dre DID NOT steal anything from tash. enuff said. and we don't think that this album is a classic. we believe we can do so much better. but we were extremely happy with the result. it may be a classic to some of you and it probably should be from a fan's point of view. its not perfect but it was the best rap release in 99. and to be fair, the production style on 2001 was primitive. by that i mean it was a very tough style to work with. with the exeption of 2 or 3 samples everything was created from thin air using real musical instruments. the methods of creating totally original productions are impossible to perfect right away. the production on 2001 was as good as possible at that point in time. now that dre has been working on this style for a few years, the sounds, the layering, the effects, the melodies and the total process is slowly being perfected by dre, mel-man,and the great musicians creating this. and we will continue to evolve this style and make it better and more original each time out. by the time detox rolls around then we have a real shot at creating a true classic. if we don't do it before with rakim. when 2001 came out a lot of people didn't think it would change the sound of hip hop like the chronic. but now this style of production is being used by a ton of producers. and a lot of people like fred wreckand others are putting out some dope, dope music. so as the competition and in some cases even the family sort of catches up its time for our camp to add some new instruments and innovations and change the game ONCE AGAIN. peace.

You don't gotta get mad at him, it's his opinion. It would be different if you made the album and he said that but you are mad because he criticised a person's album that you don't even really know in real life. (well you might, I know you got connections)

Naah...Dre jacked the beat from Tahs and made it 97259862496254326 times better...

kinda... both sampled the same song.. and Tash sampled it first.

David McCallum - The Edge (produced by the legendary david axelrod)

i posted a quote from an interview with axelrod praising Dre's vision in the way he used that sample on that song from 'big daddy' magazine

I'll point out the classics, in my opinion:

"Still DRE"
"Forgot About Dre"
"The Next Episode"

I think all three singles were the classics...the rest nuttin below a 3.5...mostly 4 & 4.5's.

Like the guy who got dissed earlier I wasn't really feeling this album as much as the rest of you. I can listen from 1-12 with no problem but after that there aren't really any songs that are that good. I would take the original Chronic over this no problem, that had loads of 5/5 tracks whereas 2001 has two or three in Next Episode, Still Dre and Whats The Difference. There wasn't enough Snoop or other DPG members on this album and some of the rappers on this album really suck. Out of five I would probably give this album a 3.75 or 4 but certainly nothing above that and in my opinion it definately wasn't a classic.

DRE2001 is without a doubt one of the dopest albums in my collection,i always come back to it,and rarely  get tired of it,alot of people in Hip Hop these days probably dont want to pay much ATTN to Dre,saying he fell off or he's out there and gone mainstream, but i disagree, dopeness is just that,DOPENESS,and that is what this album is :)

anyways,my opinions broken down for all of you

1)Intro-an intro what can one say, nice mood setter for the first track though(no rating)
2)The Watcher-this is one of the good doctor's dopest cuts EVER,very lyrical, dope beat, chorus it all flows together 5/5
3)Fuck You-dope track,by far not a "great" track,but is a dope collab,Devin comes well on this,im quite impressed with his part's on this album3/5
4)Still D.R.E-one dimensional(sorta)beat, but catchy as hell,a classic track, great storytelling from Dre as thier is consistently on this album4/5
5)Big Ego's-another good storyteller,good effects3/5
6)Xxplosive-probably the best beat on the disc in my opinion, and yeah it was on that DRE2001 site, but damn i can see why 5/5
7)Whats the difference-Xzibit and Eminem on here together,X does better than Eminem though,Em's part is interesting at first, but is annoying with repeated listens, but i think X makes this track stand apart,as well a the beat 3/5
8)Bar skit-this is boring,i always skip this, without fail (no rating)
9)Light Speed-this is one of about two tracks from this album, which i just cant feel, nothign special for me anyway 1/5
10)Forgot about dre-this Eminem's best part on the album, his job here is served well from some innovation in the beat depratment when his time comes round, very good lyrically, and another nice story-ish like track, very dope 4/5
11)Next Episode-dope,very epic, slinky beat to it that gets annoying after awhile but is dope on the evey now n so,too short though in my opinion, this could have been served better with another emcee in there and another minute or too 3.5/5
12)Lets get high-okies,okies,every one i talk to mostly hates this track or thinks it just doesnt belong,i can see thir point,it is a party banger, but it does well, and makes the album varied,i love Kurupt and Roq's part's,and damn i gotta say Roq is just pure grit and sex on this, loving it 3.5/5
13)Bitch niggazz-this is the other one i woul group in with light speed,i just cant feel it,not a memorable track for me,it cops a 1 out of 5 for the small godd parts in there, the beat is ok,its dre what can i say  1/5
14)Car bomb skit-nice opener murder ink, works well with that (no rating)
15)Murder ink-love this, very nice mood, and makes me think of cube n dre on natural born killaz, very nice 3.5/5
16)Eddie Grifffin skit-hahhahaa,i know its a skit, but out of alot of skits i have heard, this is one not worth skipppping, funny as hell, and ummm, mostly true, yeahs (no rating)
17)Some LA niggazz-tough critique here,i mean kokane and knoc didnt neeed to do that little chorus thingy togther, its just annoying to know they took the time to do that, picky i guess, and yeah it is an ok track as far as each emcee goes, but the beat is wasted,it would have been better suited to a much shorter track, good potentil, good idea, all the guys on the one banger, but just doesnt come up well 2.5/5
18)Pause for porno skit-funny to listen to,but its a skit, doesnt suit the next track at all, really, but doesnt do it any injustice so yeah, its just there (no rating)
19)Dont make ya hoe a housewife-very catchy,i love this track, very catchy, album wouldnt be the same without it 4/5
20)Ackrite-an ok track, wouldnt matter if it was left off,but it doesnt ruin the album, like i said, its just "ok" 2.5/5
21)Bang bang-nice chorus, the last few tracks on this disc are slightly weaker than the rest of the album overall, this is dope though,i was put off by that chorus at first, but nahs, ill bump it still 3/5
22)The Message-sweeet track, sentimental like, good closer and i like Dre lyrics on this, about personal loss of course, makes the album have a well rounded edge that is dope 4/5

in conclusion im not sure what to say, this is a dope album, great longevity, and i personally call it a must have as far as Hip Hop goes,i cant imagine this not meaning even something small to alot of people,in comparison to "The Chronic",well, theres much longer shelf life here, that much is obvious though,Dre has grown alot since then :)
