D.P.G. Dillinger & Young Gotti
« on: February 27, 2002, 04:05:33 AM »
First off, I was so excited when this album came out that I copped it on the 1st day.  This is there follow up 2 Dogg Food and it is straight heat.  Them 2gether is like meth and red.  No one can fuck wit them.

1.  Intro- Pretty tight intro, explaining how they came up and where in the game they are.  Good beat in the backround.  4/5

2.  Dipp Wit Me - Great way 2 start off the album.  Alot better than the Cripp Wit me off the Dogg Pound 2000 album.  Great beat.  Both come correct.  4.5/5

3.  We Livin' Gangsta Like f/Xzibit - Another one thats 10x better than the one on Dogg Pound 2000.  Beat is better and the chrous is good.  Xzibit spits some good lines.  They all sound great 2gether.  Daz did a good job with this beat.  Its hella funky.  5/5

4.  Coastin' - Something a little different with the beat on this one, but it works.  Love the chrous.  Kurupt rips this song.  Both flow fast like Bone Thugs on this one.  They sound pretty tight.  4.5/5

5.  We About To Get Fucc Up - Average song right here.  Beat is alright, nothing special.  Just a song about what gets the DPG fucked up.  Average.  3.5/5

6.  Gitta Strippin' - Great sex song here, should be played in the strip clubs.  Daz provides a funky beat and both spit some real good lyrics.  One of my favorites.  Its what Daz and Kurupt talk best about, bitches.  4.5/5

7.  Work Dat Pussy - Not a good song, gets real annoying after about a minute.  Beat is very plain.  And lyrics just as plain.  Can't listen 2 this one around the ladies, they'll turn it right off, trust me, lol.  2/5

8.  Party At My House - A commercial song.  Party type music.  Just doesn't seem 2 fit the album.  Not that its a bad song, just doesn't seem 2 belong here.  3/5

9.  You're Just a B.I.T.C.H. - One of my fav. on the album.  Good beat and just a funny ass song.  Another one you shouldn't listen 2 around your girl.  Daz actually rips this one.  4/5

10. Treat Her Like A Lady - Don't know why people front on this song, I fuckin' love this song.  Cuz its like a nice song, but Daz and Kurupts lyrics are real disrespectful.  Funny shit.  Great laid back beat 2.  Another one of my fav.  4.5/5

11. At Night - Great laid back beat.  Daz at his best like usual.  Both rip the mic tightly.  Something 2 chill 2.  4.5/5

12. Best Run f/Beanie Siegal, Roscoe - Another tight ass beat right here.  And surprisingly Beanie sounds tight with the DPG.  Roscoe also drops a tight but real short verse.  Def. a banger.  Daz does great with the chrous.  5/5

13. Shit Happenz - Average beat right here.  The beat sounds like a mix of the two songs before it At Night and Best Run.  The only thing that makes this song phat is the rhyme scheme that Daz and Kurupt use.  They go back and forth and don't have seperate verses.  Pretty tight.  4/5

14. My Heart Don't Pump No Tear f/Slip Capone - Another tight beat right here.  And of course Slip rips it, like usual.  Just a tight ass song here.  4.5/5

15. There's Someway Out - My favorite song from Daz and Kurupt 2gether.  The beat is amazing and the lyrics are just phat.  Daz actually outshines Kurupt on this one, hard 2 believe, just listen.  Chrous is great.  Both giving a good message 4 a change.  A must peep. Only prob I see is its way 2 short, wish it was longer.   6/5

16. Here We Are/Go Killem (Daz's solo) - Nothing great here.  Beat kinda plain, and Daz doesn't say much.  Average at best.  Not impressed. Do like the chrous though. 2.5/5

17.  I'ma Gangsta (Kurupt solo) - This ones better than Daz's solo.  Typical Kurupt, talking some shit.  Tight beat.  Good overall song.  4/5

18. How Many? - The beat is different, but a good different. Another track that both flow fast as hell, esp. Daz Dilli.  Love the chrous.  Tight song.  4.5/5

19. C-Walking Cha Cha Cha - Daz does good with the beat, but really doesn't rap just does the chrous.  Kurupt kills this song.  When you hear just start your C-Walk.  Phat song. Wish this song was longer. 4/5

20. D.P.G. - Tight way 2 end your album.  By telling everyone who the fuck you are.  Tight ass song here. Will have you singing along with the chrous.  "Dogg Pound Gangstaz Baby, Dogg Pound Gangstazzzzzzz".  Another tight song.  5/5

21. Outro - Just them talking bout themselves nothing special.

Overall this album was TIGHT.  One of the best albums from the west.  Didn't get the attention it should have.  Probably becuz it wasn't really released mainstream and was very underground.  But I give this album a 9/10.  You'll love it.

Props for giving Best Run it's proper rating. Alot of people sleep on that song. The beats tight and everyone on there comes correct.

not really, the orginal versions of all these songs were better...daz and mike dean  fucked them all up trying to make them sound like dre produced them , but he failed and made it sound all generic and shit, plus kurupt is rapping whack like he did on space boogie, daz is just as blan as always, and the subject mannor and lyrics are very uninspired and very unimagitive

you have got to be joking me...that album had better production than Dre's last album in my opinion. The same way Kurupt's album was better than the chronic 2001. Daz is the only one keeping that deathrow sound from back in the day alive.

Well, everybody got they own opinions. Personally I liked this WAY better than any of Dre's latest shit. Like someone mentioned above: Daz is still keeping that G-funk sound from Death row. Plus I like how he raps, his flow is sick. I don't understand why so many people say he can't rap.
