To quote the artist, C-Bo is "the face you see on the homicide wall." There's no mistaking the truth: C-Bo is a thug. Furthermore, Kokane, Yukmouth, the Outlawz, and the rest of his homies in rhymin' are thugs, too. And if you want to get specific, C-Bo and company are West Coast thugs, a breed apart from your standard-issue thug. Musically, Life as a Rider is business as usual: heavy bass beats anchor brittle and menacing synth-based medleys, although judiciously placed violins and snare drums do shake things up a bit. Lyrically, it's the typical grim and grimy smorgasbord of set reppin', drive-bys, and adulterous acts in the backs of Cadillacs. But C-Bo's flow is on point and his well-chosen gangsta collaborations add flavor. If you're a West Coast thug or a fan of thugged-out West Coast music, this CD is a must-have
