Our in-store with DJ Premier on Saturday was a success, and our man had a lot to talk about in the way of new projects. The long-awaited DJ Premier solo album will finally see the light of day, with a projected November 1st release date, on Terror Squad Records / Atlantic. The album will be entitled "A Man Of Few Words", and will spotlight the production of Premier, while a few emcees shoot the breeze. So far, tracks that are done or close to being done include collaborations with Ghostface, Redman, Nas, Roberta Flack w/ Jill Scott, and 50 Cent. Meanwhile, Preemo's got his hands full with two other releases dropping within the next year on his own indy imprint, Year Round Records. Set to drop on the label are Blak Poet's (formerly Poet of Screwball) "The Best That Never Did It" and NYG'z "Proz & Conz", plus Group Home "Livin' Proof" Instrumentals. Poet's album will feature tracks produced by DJ Premier, Easy Moe Bee, and Alchemist. Said Premier, "Poet's album is vicious". In other unrelated news, Preem whispered of an upcoming (non Year Round Records) album called "The New Trecherous Three", which would feature Chuck D, KRS-One, and Big Daddy Kane. Whether he will produce on this record remains to be seen......- Pizzo

Whoa.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Damn, Premo really putting it down this year, you just know the solo is gonna be crazy, and the other two projects sound tight, NYGz really brought it on that "Same Team No Games" track on the Ownerz so their album should be tight.

And the prospect of Chuck D, Krs and Big Daddy Kane with some Premier production is like :o

sounds dope...been waiting for that Premo solo for a few years now
