well im trying to get a laptop.. im not all that computer nerd so i dont really need a super badass one with every function.. i just need a good reliable one thats easy to use..
i was thinking of just getting those powerbook ones..
i think i can get a 12" powerbook for 1360$, it has these specifications...
it has 12.1 inch tft display
1024x768 resolution
1ghz powerpc g4
512K L2 cache
256 MB ddr266 SDRAM
40 GB ultra ATA/100
NVIDIA geForce FX
GO 5200 (32MB ddr)
full size keyboard
10/100 base t ethernet
firewire 400
airport extreme ready
mini dvi out

(i dont even know what half of those mean, so if you can break it down for me, i'd appreciate it)

another question i have is regarding the wireless internet.. my friend brought one of those apple laptops to ny, and he was able to just  plug something into the laptop and nothing to the wall, and he was able to just leech off the surrounding internet signals.. are all laptops able to do this? or is only the apple airport thing the only thing that can do this..

so yeah if you can give me some suggestions and what not about some good models, or ur opinions on the one that i already chose..

yea if your laptop has a wireless netowork card it searches for open networks and connects you to it. easy as cake.

ok ill break it down for u.

i think i can get a 12" powerbook for 1360$, it has these specifications...
display is small, but if you dont need it for movies or games, then its perfect
it has 12.1 inch tft display

1024x768 resolution nice resolution...im running it now

1ghz powerpc g4 if your not doing video editing or advanced video games this is all you need

512K L2 cachenice

256 MB ddr266 SDRAMYou might wanna up this to at least 512mb of ram

40 GB ultra ATA/100 this is great if you like to download songs and such.

NVIDIA geForce FX
GO 5200 (32MB ddr)again if your not playing avanced video games, then a 32mb video card is more then enough.

full size keyboard

10/100 base t ethernet lets you plug your laptop into your

cable modem

firewire 400used to plug in external devices like, external hard
drives, cd drives, etc

airport extreme readywireless car

mini dvi outlets you plug your laptop to the tv i believe

hope this helps. only thing i would change would be add some more ram.
