There's 900 television stations and ain't a damn thing on (aside from sports, but even then you got the beer commercials and the soft porn women on the sidelines)..

A better name for television is the idiot box, it's the greatest tool ever invented for brainwashing the public. Our media is so sensationalized, the product the majority of the stations are selling is fear. People need to get rid of their televisions and start using their brains. It's because of television that 60% of the people in this country are ignorant enough to believe that Sadaam was connected 9-11 and that Iraq had nuclear weapons.

Anyways, while it's true people watch way too much television, everyone needs entertainment.  When you watch television in MODERATION (that's the word of the day, Inf, think about it in a Religious sense!... bastard)... anyways, when you watch television in MODERATION, there's nothing wrong with it.  I have just a few shows I watch, I watch on average about 7 hours a week.  

I watch, for instance, Animal Planet.  They have a show on their called Animal Cops or something like that where people rescue abandoned and abused animals.  How is that bad to watch?  I enjoy animals, and it interests me and fascinates me that people would abuse them, and then I enjoy seeing the rare miracle when they're found and rehabilitated.  

I watch the trio of shows on Discovery Channel - American Choppers, Monster House, and Monster Garage.  All 3 are about people building things with their own hands, and having fun doing it.  These shows entertain me, it's my entertainment, I enjoy watching them.

That's *ALL I watch right now.  Nothing else.   There's nothing wrong with television in moderation.

well i watch the history channel. but i guess that station is brainwashing me to believe that hitler was actually a murderer. ALthough i will agree that the media does only tell you bad things that are happening in the world. But honestly who would watch the news if all they had were headlines like "man saves kitty from a tree, and our top story, man fixes old womans tire." nobody wants to watch that.

i watch tv and i dont believe saddaam was connected to 9-11. WAnna know why? because i watch the news. 911 commison has stated that iraq/saddam had no involvement with 911.

agreed i only really watch history channels, comedy and news. british news is better than american news they not afraid to critizes the government or neglect stories regarding israel etc. but i only ever really watch a couple of hours a day.

lol hollyoaks is ok but the story lines never change you can go without watching it for ages and everything is pretty much the same, some nice eye candy tho i remeber last year i noticed that out of all the girls in it the only non blonde in it was the fat ginger 1. its almost as bad as the oc but in that they have 30 yr old playing 16 year or somink rediculas

btw.. i'm with Trauma on the wildlife prog thing.. theres nothing wrong with those. I was really enjoying that thing they just finsihed over here on bbc2 lat week. and was on every night in the last month.

for people who didnt see it.. as its a good time of year for looking at newborn wildlife they were monitoring nests of lots of birds (inc falcons) and looking at otters, and some badger and fox cubs. plus talking about endangered species how the american grey squirrel has wiped out our native red squirrel in most of the country (there are greys living in the tree outside my window here at work). over the weeks it was on you saw things progress from eggs hatching to (some) chicks leaving their nests.

they were pushing for people to 'make space for wildlife' by putting up nesting boxes, bird tables, etc etc..

i also like archaeology progs (sometimes) they started a new series last night called "extreme archaeology" that was kinda cool.

I love TV but there's nothing really good on anymore. I mainly just watch repeats of great shows.

yea i wish they would bring back not the nine o'clcok news that was classic but it never gets repeated.

dunno if any one watched panorama last nite it was quite interesting all about the "super dollar" an almost undetectable faked US dollar produced by north korea origionally only distributed in asia by north korean diplomats since the 80s but then ex KGB and the IRA got involved and and made it world wide, making the north korean embassy in moscow the distribution centre.

also tomorro nite they got putting on a special interview with Clinton should be interesting.

i watch South Park, CSI, ER on a regular basis except for the summer because i come out of hibernation...

then i frequent the discovery, animal planet and court channel for some interesting shows

i've seen that animal cops but it's just hard for me to watch because some of them think they're bad asses...like that blond chick...she always acts bad, she says shit like "oh we'll be back....you can take that to the bank....we'll be back"

btw, i watched the 60 minutes on clinton. it was pretty interesting, although we all already knew that he had sex with monica. "i slept on the couch for 2 weeks"

Point being, as you just described, there ARE things on television that are educational, interesting, entertaining, and most of all VALUABLE.  So you can't just throw the television out summarily.

and on the tv note, yea theres a lot of BS on tv, i like discovery chanel, myth busters is sick, i still love Seinfeld, theres nothing like it, i watch less and less now, i rather watch movies...
