My Devils Night album review (full)
« on: May 31, 2001, 06:22:04 AM »
First of all, anyone who burned the album, make sure you buy the real thing.  I'm buying two copy's.

1. Another Public Service Announcement-   the funniest one of the three

2. Shit Can Happen- 8- Eminem last verse makes this song.

3. Pistol Pistol-  9 - The chorus makes this song.

4. Bizzare Skit- only wack thing on the album

5. Nasty Mind- 7.5 - Dre's beat is tight.  2001 version of Ain't No Fun.  Kon Artis comes real tight on this one.

6. Ain't Nuthin But Music- 10- Mark my words.  This song will blow the fuck up!!!!  And then everyone will start hatin on it.  But for now it's the one everyones talking about.  Eminem and Proof drop the illest versus and the chorus will make it blow up.

7. American Psycho- 10- If you've heard the snippet you know what I'm talking about.

8. That's How Skit

9. That's How- 9 - D-12 proves they can do it even without Eminem.  Once again Proof comes correct.

10. Purple Pills- 9- Alot of comedy in this one, and very origional.

11. Fight Music- 6- Reminds me of Bad Influence, only not as tight.  It's not really my thing anyway, I hate Rock Music.

12. Instigator- 8- Clever track.  Real Tight.  The rest of Em's crew really shows their skills.  I think the Kon Artis even produced it.

13. Pimp like me- 8-  I think it's got the same girl in it as the other Eminem albums have for track
This one is the tightest of all three though.  Some straight pimp shit.  Funny shit when he calls out Kim at the end.

14. Blow My Buzz- 8- Just like in "That's How" D-12 trades lines back and forth in this one, and it comes out real tight.  Good chemistry in the group.

15. Obie Trice- Watch out for this cat.  This will definetely biuld hype for his solo album.  Great plug. Kind of like when Dre plugged Hitman in the Forgot About Dre video.

16. Devils Night- 9.5- This song has that dark feeling to it, really dope, eirie, ghosty sound to it.

17. Steve Berman skit- even funnier than the last one.  Great continuity between albums

18. Revelation- 10- My favorite song on the album.  I hated highschool.  This song really relates to alot of the bullshit alot of us went through growing up with our parents fucking with us, and then going to school and getting more of the same.  Obviously its more extreme though.  Proof even drops a verse as if he was the dude that shot up Columbine.  This song is ill as fuck.

Overall- 5 mikes- It's already my favorite album.

ok...ummm im gonna do a review later today...but some points i would like to make

-shit can happens chorus is very good..i luv it, best as choruses get

-nasty mind produced by dre? im not too sure?

-song 6, "aint nuthin but music" is UNDOUBTEBLY produced by dre..he is even on teh chorus, em says "tell em dre" and dre says "it aint nuthin but music" and it has a dope ass beat...kinda like real slim shady but doper and not as pop

-american psyco is some DOPE SHIT...i luv the lines when he is rapping like snoop and comes up with that sippin on sizurp line

-puruple pills worst song on the album, and first single, its gay too me, nothing apealing...hate the beat

-fight music is doper than what u put it as...i like it

-blow my buzz has some dude doing the chorus like kokane, and its soooooo dope...

-obie trice has a mad ass flow and dope voice but his lyrics were  wack...he like had 3 lines in about 16 bars that didnt rhyme at all..

-steve berman skit-hahahaha funnnny

overall:
I AM SURPRISED WITH ALL THE GUYS LYRICS, BIZARRE IS MY 2ND FAVORITE, NOT CAUSE HES TALENTED BUT THAT HE MADE ME LAUGH LIKE 10 TIMES THRU THE ALBUM...

eminem kills it on every verse he is on
all the other rappers expecially proof and swifty rip shiut up the whole album...

production is good

in no way i think wil this be a classic...cause it is missing something, but its a solid 4.5 out of 5

Yeah I don't like Purple Pills. And the censored version (Purple Hills) is plain embarassing.

By the way, the song "Revalation" samples Pink Floyd's "Brick in the Wall", which is my favorite rock song...

Good album, "Nasty Mind" & "Ain't Nuttin But Music" are signature D-R-E and the final two was something new from Dre.  We will def here more of this type of style, like Mellowman hinted.

I heard  that Mel-Man & Rocwilder were supposed to lace beats for the album?  WHat happend... and what's the next single for "Devil's Night."
