Anybody visited the cemetary lately?
« on: July 08, 2004, 11:19:20 PM »
Islam teaches it's followers to attend funerals.  A Muslim must visit the graveyard so that he may remember (thikr) that this life is short, and that one day we will all have to leave whatever we are doing and enter the grave.  Everything we have gained and can hope to achieve will ultimately be put to an end, at an hour only Allah the Master of the Day of Judgement can know.  Nobody knows when their time will come, a Muslim (one who submits to the will of the creator) knows that he can die at any moment.

The prophet (saws) compared this life in the same way that one would describe a stop at the gas station when traveling long distance.  You get out, stretch, use the restroom, buy a few things, clean your car window, make a little conversation, then leave.  That is what this life is like.  Life is very short, we must reflect on this.

i don't have to worry about being goin to the graveyard to see the graves into which i will someday be going. I should goto crematoriums more often i guess... Graveyards are a huge waste of land. Being buried is selfish and pointless

Yeah I stop by them all the time, salute them when I'm just passing by.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

it seems to me that you think and talk about death more than you do life...therefore i suggest you embrace life while you still have it i.e. go and get one  ;) 8)

thats sum good advice.....

the only time i was at a cemetary was when my grandfather was being dropped into the groud, when i was like 10. It doesnt take an islamic genius to know how short life is. you dont need to visit a cemetary to do that.

Actually it is the opposite.  You visit the cemetary to remind yourself how short and insignificant the life of this world is so that you are reminded to make the most of your time on this earth.

Also, I must add, the part about going to funerals, I was talking about Islamic funerals, which are different than the all day affairs at Christian funerals.  Iin Islam, we just burry the body right away at the nearest Islamic cemetary to where the individual passed away, and then we make a group prayer, followed by an individual supplication to Allah, asking him to forgive the person who has passed on.

I don't know what you mean about prohibiting contradictions.  Maybe you meant sarcasm, which is similar.  There is one particular verse which discusses this.  Allah says in the Noble Qu'ran in Surah 49:11-Al Hajurat-

"Oh ye who believe
Let not some men
Among you laugh at others:
It may be that
The latter are better
Than the former:
Nor let some women
Laugh at others:
It may be that
The latter are better
than the former
Nor defame
Nor be sarcastic to each other
Nor call each other by offensive nicknames
Ill-seeming is a name
Connotating wickedness
To be used of one
After he has believed
And those who
do not desist
are indeed doing wrong".

*************

Anyway, to answer your question, my statement was neither sarcasm or contradiction.  I seriously think some of the people at this forum worship porn, they live for it, some do infact worship Paris Hilton.  What you live for is what you worship.  If you walk in someone's bedroom and they got posters (shrines, idols) of famous women covering their walls, so they can stare and pay homage to them morning and evening, then you are elevating this person in a manner in which no human should be elevated, let alone, some women you've only seen on TV and in magazines.

There is no diety worthy of praise except the Creator (God), he is one, and none has the right to be worshipped (elevated) but Him.
