Your top 10 all-time favorite artists
« on: August 26, 2004, 09:02:46 PM »
From any genre, time-frame, etc.....

No order for me:

Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Johnny Cash
Bob Dylan
Prince
David Bowie
Mos Def
Public Enemy
Curtis Mayfield
Van Morrison

Pretty diverse list if I do say so myself.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Good list, I'm a fan of Wonder Charles & Gaye and I dig some Jackson and Pac songs.

Fats Domino is a great artist, I'm surprised to see someone on this board is a fan. He's not one of the artists most people think about with the greats.

Well, he's not the best from the era but he's became one of my personal favs. My ex-girlfriend got me listening to him. She gave me a cd of his and told me to listen to one of his songs called Blue berry Hill. It was suppossed to represent me and her after we broke up. If you read the lyrics you'll understand I mean lol.
