Howard Stern Talks DVDs
Word on his movie and old WOR series.

July 23, 2004 - A caller to shock jock Howard Stern asked him on Wednesday about DVDs for both his film Private Parts and his old early 1990s TV series. Stern said he really wanted to do a special edition for Private Parts but Paramount rushed the DVD out without doing any work to it.

Stern claimed he tried to buy the rights to the DVD so he could put his own extras but Paramount refused, saying they didn't want to be embarrassed if he ended up making tons of money on it. So they are just keeping the DVD locked up.

Stern also wants to get the rights to his old show from the early 1990s on WWOR in New York, to put out a comprehensive DVD package. That show was a riot; one segment, called "Hooker Howiewood Squares," featured Stern going around NYC picking up prostitutes to populate the squares for a Hollywood Squares spoof, with the now-adult actors who played Cindy and Bobby Brady as contestants.

Unfortunately, Stern said WWOR won't release his tapes. Someone suggested that Howard hire the guy who stole the Pamela Anderson/Tommy Lee tape to get his tapes back.

We asked Paramount for a comment on Private Parts, but so far no response.
