^^ Same with me for years, Rick James albums are hard to find but I'll bet they'll re-release all his albums soon to capatalize on his tragic passing.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

DeBarge

The Jacksons (I.E. Victory and the stuff they did after Michael blew up)

Jose Feliciano

I'm just mentioning them since you seem to be more interested in the 80's stuff.  Almost without FAULT, if it says "Motown", it's damn good.  You didn't mention any of the 60's stuff, but of course I'm sure you know the stuff the Temptations, the Supremes, the Miracles, the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Martha & The Vandellas, the 4 tops, and Stevie Wonder did were all some of the greatest music ever recorded.

Buy every Stevie Wonder album he released in the 70s. Stevie is one of the only Motown artists to expirement artistically. Marvin Gaye did on a couple of his 70s album's and Smokey was a hell of a lyricist.

Blaspheme.  Motown was always artistically different, from the founding of the company.  The Temps, the Supremes, etc. WERE an artistic experiment!
