He was an upcoming politician who was running for president. He was controversial because he said the Islam is a backward culture since it doesn't give full rights to women etc. He was also for a stricter policy for refugees. He said that only real refugees should be allowed into this country. What Fortuyn also said was that he'd let all refugees that were in the country at that time could stay, but then it would be a lot harder for other refugees to enter the country. Nothing wrong with that, but there were actually some people that thought he was a racist for saying that including some people in the media. It's really a shame how the media treated this man.

Anyway, a week before the elections he got murdered by an extremely left winged nature activist, called Volkert van der Graaf.

I think he resigned because he fucked u as Governor. I mean he appointed his love as Sectary of Defense of the State of New Jersey--his lover was not even certified, had no experience and was an Israeli Native.
