Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

$140,212,919,286

Instead, we could have fully funded global anti-hunger efforts for 5 years.

but hey who wants to help people when he can kill people, am I right or what?  >:(
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

you're talking about seperate budgets...and even countries that don't spend much on a defense budget still have homeless and dumb children

finally government's are made to defend and protect people, not feed them when they're down on luck, or educate them...that's our jobs

maybe the american goverment isn't but the british goverment is there to provide jobs, security, free health care at the point of sale, education and to protect our interests amoung other things

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?

that's extra things they do with the taxes, doesn't mean they have to do those

Hmmm... right now the European dream of working less and using this tax money to help/support those who don't work will come to a screeching halt in the not so far future. Your population is aging it it simply will not be able to handle all the elderly who have retired.

It all comes down to priorities.

And being from america, i think our priority should be military and defense.

Sure with that money we could feed hungry people, but if you didnt already know.

America is the top target for an enemy.

Some might say, what comes around goes around.
You attack the most -> = you must also defend the most.

So again, it comes down to priorities.
