Brian Wilson's personal reel-to-reel multi-tracker, probably used to record the Beach Boy's classic "Smiley Smile" album released in 1967, and recorded in Brian's home studio.

you could probably get a plug-in that would work just as good for a fraction of the price. Still, If I was a big time producer and a huge Brian Wilson fan, I'd pick it up.

'better' would be a matter of opinion, but they are def. easier and cheaper.

Brian just record his "SMiLE" album, which sounds right out of 1966, on all vintage equipment at Sunset Sound in L.A, using Pro Tools to sequence it all. This multitracker wouldn't give you much of a vintage sound anyways, just tape hiss from the reel to reel. The most important thing to getting a vintage sound would be tube amps and nice microphones, I just thought it would be interesting to see to some of you.
