TWO ARRESTED AFTER SIEGE

The Dutch police siege of a building in a residential area of The Hague has finished with two people being arrested.

Earlier three policemen were wounded when a hand grenade exploded during the raid on the building.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the raid is linked to last week's murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh.

Mr van Gogh, 47, was shot and stabbed to death in the middle of Amsterdam last Tuesday by a man alleged to be a Muslim extremist.

"An arrest team went into action this morning. There was an explosion and three policemen were injured," a spokesman said.

Another spokesman said the three policemen had been taken to hospital and that one of them had been released with minor injuries.

Dutch police have already arrested 10 people in their investigation into Mr Van Gogh's death and are still holding six of them.

These include the prime suspect, known only as Mohammed B, who has been charged with murder and suspected links to a terrorist group.

Prosecutors have declined to comment on reports they were hunting a Syrian they suspected of involvement in the murder.

* At least 200 police men, and a counter-terror force co-operated in the operation along with snipers and ambulances on stand-by.
* Police sent remote controlled search robots into the building to look for explosives.
* 5 Blocks was shut down.
* A 3rd man was arrested in Utrecht.
