Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.

I could do without Respect on the list (I like Otis Redding's version better) and Smells Like Teen Spirit, I've never been a huge Nirvana fan. And IMO that's not even Marvin's best song on the What's Going On album.

Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" is probably the best song you can pick for number 1. It was fresh, artitistic, lyrical, musical, and probably the most influential song of the Rock n Roll era. It's like the whole scene changed after that song was released. The rest of the 100 can probably be picked out of a hat.

 I can't belive Teen Spirit beat Stairway,
