Hey lincoln, do u have a link to where i could see the full top 500 list?

No, I got this top 10 list from another forum.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Replace 2, 5, & 9 with these IMO.

Such a stupid list.  Maybelline in the top 20.  Yeah, right.  Anybody else think it's fishy that the top 2 songs revolve around the name of the magazine?

1. Here There & Everywhere - The Beatles
2. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
3. In My Life - The Beatles

I'd do it something more like that.

you beat me to it. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was amazing, but i doubt it deserves 9th best song ever. "Stairway To Heaven" ain't even in the top 20...i mean, you can't make such a list "accurate", but I agree with little as for this one

This is the biggest piece of bullshit ever made. You cannot have a top 10 list (for the sake of the argument), and not have stairway to heaven on the list.  That is one of  THE most popular songs from that era, and even around today. Led Zeppelin IV has sold past 20,000,000 albums (dont know the exact number). You cannot deny their spot of being one of the most popular bands of all time.

I think this list proves we need to do a list on here, like we are doing with the non west hiphop songs at the moment. As I totally agree with Lincoln that songs like Mercy, Mercy Me, and Whats Happening Brother are better than Whats Goin On.

hmm, i might do a list like this when i'm done with the hiphop one, but it does take some work...but yeah, should be cool and like i already said, Stairway cannot not be in the top 20...i think on my personal list it would actually be no. 1...it's like the definition of a perfect song

I don't know, I think Stairway is a great song and all but there's so many great songs out there. That's not even my favorite Zeppelin song to be honest.
