short review of Man vs Machine after first listen
« on: September 17, 2002, 01:41:49 AM »
1. Release Date - dark grimmy beat, xzibit comes off tight..  im really feelin this track, like those keys/strings in the background, along with the guitar. Fits well together. And xzibit has a good flow and rides the beat well.

2. Symphony in X Major (feat Dr Dre) - The beat is pretty futiristic, using some old classical tunes from symphonys.. the drums are pretty hard hittin and xzibit rides... Although one thing i dont like bout it is that xzibits verses  get very boring... at the end of the verse its like a relief that the chorus starts... the chorus isnt anything special.. second verse is Dre, typical Dre verse... same thing hes been sayin for 2 years, still not too bad.  After the second chorus we got a little bit of singin.. and xzibit drops another verse. Well, this was an ok track.... i think its too monotone though, specially the verses.. the beat is pretty cool though, gotta say that, like that feel it has, and the drums hit it.

3. The first seconds of this gave me a good feelin bout this track.. i love those keys, and it sounds alot like the WELCOME TO NYC track by Jay Cam etc... very similar............ again, hard hittin drums which i love. And x rides the beat, he sounds more hungry and you know i like that. Im feelin this, better than Multiply or somethin... The chorus is coo too, good X track, finally a song where he doesnt sound too bored.
I mean he doesnt say too much, but its still good, dope song to ride too, specially coz of the drums. "WELCOME TO MY PLANET".. <<--- this tracks message.

4. We gonna win - AKA "WHAT A MESS" feat primo. Alot of people didnt like this track but i was feelin it, the beat is typical primo shit and makes me bob my head. He has some nice scratches and x flows pretty well... Nothin too special, but still better than multiply ;) ;D But this STILL isnt what we all want to hear from X, but i guess we wont hear it.....

5. Fuck Ya'll - Fuck Ya'll? Aight, then. HARD HARD beat, with a veeeery deep bass and melody.. The bass drum is hittin it to the fullest. This is ok, id be satisfied if i heard this from anyrandom rapper, but not from X, we know this isnt his best.. this is the X that may sell, but is it the x we heard 96-99? guess not. Very futuristic shit. Aight track... not my type

6. Gambler - The beginnin is cool, i like this production.. a off-beat beat. This isnt X's typical flow or beat but it sounds good. The production is funky, maybe a bit too monotone. Xzibit rides the beat, one of the better tracks of this advance. I like the chorus, its some funky shit.

7. I Love Ya Momma - Well i guess this not a "i just want to fuck you" track. It's dedicated to his mother. Slow beat, i think this is gone be great. Yes, thats it, great. X goes deep and finally spits some lyrics that are meaningful. Seems like these smoked out g'd up rappers always get better when they think about their moms and about a real subject. The subject is all that, the singing dude isnt too great. Still, its ok. X is good. Im feelin this. Good track.

8. Where It Hurts - Seems like the producers love the drums on this release. DAMN this is dope, the drums are slammin. But the beat isnt too great... way too simple. Although the oriental sounding keys are coo. X's flow is coo, the chorus, by himself aint too bad neither. "Hit you where it hurts". Pretty cool track, may grow on me.

9. BK 2 LA feat MOP - Good beat, with some deep organ keys. MOP (sup jome) are featured on this. X drops the first verse, his deep voice suits the beat nicely. MOP come off coo.. Although i havent listened to much of their material.  Nice track, not the best one though... MOP scream too much for my taste....

10. Multiply - I think after this review yall know my opinion on this track.. the beat is cool, but i just dont feel it too much.. Although i have the feelin its slowly growin on me. Its cool but i want more from X.

11. Multiply Remix - The remix. With busta, without nate. Cool remix, its better than the OG if you ask me.

peace

wcc's worst reviewer (even tho every1 bugs for mine!) says.... "I agree with Nima" 100%...

which means my review is "yeah is aiight, its not shit like"

rofl @ "black man made pyramids and gangsta rap thats all i know" from 'gambler'  - xzibit believing 5%r bullshit  :-/

overall... its well rounded... but theres nothing outstanding & a few weird ones... multiply is still the best of the bunch by far.

ps

ewwww Fuck Yall is damn weird
