The rangers had a homecoming in Harlem late last night
And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine over the Jersey state line
Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge
Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain
The Rat pulls into town rolls up his pants
Together they take a stab at romance and disappear down Flamingo Lane

Well the Maximum Lawman run down Flamingo chasing the Rat and the barefoot girl
And the kids round here look just like shadows always quiet, holding hands
From the churches to the jails tonight all is silence in the world
As we take our stand down in Jungleland

The midnight gang's assembled and picked a rendezvous for the night
They'll meet 'neath that giant Exxon sign that brings this fair city light
Man there's an opera out on the Turnpike
There's a ballet being fought out in the alley
Until the local cops, Cherry Tops, rips this holy night
The street's alive as secret debts are paid
Contacts made, they vanished unseen
Kids flash guitars just like switch-blades hustling for the record machine
The hungry and the hunted explode into rock'n'roll bands
That face off against each other out in the street down in Jungleland

In the parking lot the visionaries dress in the latest rage
Inside the backstreet girls are dancing to the records that the D.J. plays
Lonely-hearted lovers struggle in dark corners
Desperate as the night moves on, just a look and a whisper, and they're gone

Beneath the city two hearts beat
Soul engines running through a night so tender in a bedroom locked
In whispers of soft refusal and then surrender in the tunnels uptown
The Rat's own dream guns him down as shots echo down them hallways in the night
No one watches when the ambulance pulls away
Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light

Outside the street's on fire in a real death waltz
Between flesh and what's fantasy and the poets down here
Don't write nothing at all, they just stand back and let it all be
And in the quick of the night they reach for their moment
And try to make an honest stand but they wind up wounded, not even dead
Tonight in Jungleland

I wasn't asking a rhetorical question. I was simply wondering what your idea of a good lyric was, and posted what I thought good lyrics were. Even though it seemed that way, no offense intended. I wasn't trying to show you up.

'Pac barely dissed them. Compare that diss to the disses at Biggie. It seem like 'Pac was thinking of Mobb Deep as small change. Mobb Deep though has been dissing 'Pac since he dies. Still dissing 'Pac. Shit. Now tell me, in the end, was that beef? It might have been, but it wasn't fair beef. I'll release Drop A Gem On Em in 1997, a year after 'Pac's death. Fuck that.

shallow, heres what i think "good lyrics" are. i dont consider this being the same as a good lyricist(even tho common is):
Knowin you the best part of life, do I have the right to take yours
Cause I created you, irresponsibly
Subconciously knowin the act I was a part of
The start of somethin, I'm not ready to bring into the world
Had myself believin I was sterile
I look into mother's stomach, wonder if you are a boy or a girl
Turnin this woman's womb into a tomb
But she and I agree, a seed we don't need
You would've been much more than a mouth to feed
But someone, I woulda fed this information I read
to someone, my life for you I woulda had to leave
Instead I lead you to death
I'm sorry for takin your first breath, first step, and first cry
But I wasn't prepared mentally nor financially
Havin a child shouldn't have to bring out the man in me
Plus I wanted you to be raised within a family
I don't wanna, go through the drama of havin a baby's momma
Weekend visits and buyin J's ain't gon' make me a father
For a while bearing a child is somethin I never wanted to do
For me to live forever I can only do that through you
Nerve I got to talk about them niggaz with a gun
Must have really thought I was God to take the life of my son
I could have sacrificed goin out
To think my homies who did it I used to joke about, from now on
I'ma use self control instead of birth control
Cause $315 ain't worth your soul
$315 ain't worth your soul
$315 ain't worth it

lost angel-hell on earth was released in 96. both tracks that dissed him were on that album.

"Drop A Gem On 'Em" was not released in 1997.

CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.

clearing some shit up....
Bad Boy and Dipset....Dipset disses Mase for being a Christian, Knowing Mase he's not gonna fight back so Puffy gets on a track and indirectly disses them. Knowing Dipset they put on their pink shirts got on their pink escalades drove to the studio and made tracks dissing Bad Boy INDIRECTLY. Some of you are right with the non beef thing...Yes its weak cuz puff has no protection and Camron is a faggot. But if u think about it. Puff and Cam dont get along, Puff is friends with many East Coast rappers, he's respected on the East and when an East Coast Labels shoots lyrics at u it technically is a beef.

okay off to Deep and Pac
I dont give a fuck what u say...this is a beef. Every diss track Pac made mentioned Mobb Deep. Pac had too many beefs to make an entire song to diss Mobb Deep, in other words he wasnt that bored. Pac said one of them had sickle cell, they were too young to rap, and a whole bunch of other shit. When two people converse in two different songs with threats and disses. They are not friends therefore they are a Beef.

Pac and Biggie...every1 knows this is a beef but media and suge knight stretched this beef way too far then it actually was. Pac and Biggie were tight and then they went there seperate ways, media exaggerated and killed two of the best ever. I dont blame this on Biggie, Pac, Puffy, or Suge this was the media. This is probably the main reason why nickatina is still underground cuz he hates the mainstream media.

Alright ya'll i hope this clarify the ? marks put after some of the beefs.

the "beef" between mase and cam has been going on for years now. bad boy NEVER got involved, because he was already off the label. it really heated up when mase talked about some shit he shouldnt have in his book, after he had "retired" from rap. it blew up when mase got on hot 97 and he started talkin about jim jones, saying that him and other people that cam is hanging around with arent good people, or some shit like that, so jones called up and mase said jimmy had changed and he told mase to tell the people about how he was getting extorted in harlem, and thats the real reason why he ran to atlanta. then they had cam call up and him and mase were getting along until mase got caught in a lie. mase said that he wanted to split the money from the horse and carriage budget with cam, and cam said that they had never even discussed that. they had this long argument over it and mase was quiet as a church mouse at this one point. he realized that he had got caught so he tried to switch the subject up. then cam brought up how mase had abandoned cardan(cardan was a rapper who came out with both cam and mase, i have a freestyle of them spittin together), when he was 14 years old, a little bit after his mother had died. i think it was the next day, but im not sure, they had cardan call up, and he started talking about how mase came back into his life years later outta nowhere, tried to buy his friendship again with a watch, and then a week later, mase had someone call him up to get the watch back from him, that mase gave to him as a GIFT. i think cardan said he gave the watch back, and he hasnt heard from mase since then, cause he disappeared again. then dipset came out with a song called "take em to church", where they speak on all those situations, and how he never did anything for the community, or go back to see any of his "friends". never do they make fun of him being a christian. "not a diss dog, we just heard the frontin. do harlem a favor, get a church or somethin. a rec center, in the winter, where the youth could play. they dont even shoot the jay, sell drugs, shoot, and spray"
people seem to forget cam and mase used to be in a group together, and were really good friends. they definetly got problems right now tho.

Aight my opinion on all this:
Nas vs. Jay-z: Straight up Nas. Jay-Z, ho, hova, whatever the fuck he wants to go by, he's talented but Nas has that edge and that touch that makes his rap so clean.
Pac Vs. Biggie: Pac. Im sorry i was never impressed by Biggie, never understood his style. Laid Back Gangster or Glock On My Waist Gangster. Pac had the same personality, the inspirational Poetic Pac and the In your face imma diss your ass if u talk Gangster. I liked pac's style much better
G-Unit vs. Murder Inc.: Who does Murder Inc. Have? G-Unit is talented, however overrated. Lloyd Banks is very talented, 50 Cent did great w/ "Get Rich....", Buck is a great south rapper with a sort of predictable personality. Yayo, aint impressed by him. And finally Game, who brings his own skills to the table. So G-Unit
Daz vs. Kurupt: Sad beef, they are both talented rappers and its sad they're beefing. This is why i cant pick one... However, In the past i would say Kurupt, around these days i would say Daz. But in General i cant choose.
Pac Vs. Mobb Deep: Tough, Very tough. I'd go with Pac, however I like MObb Deep a lot. But it aint cool to diss a dead legend.
JA vs. 50 Cent: 50 cent. JA is annoying in my opinion.
T.I vs. Lil Flip: T.I. This was a headscratcher. A while ago i woulda said flip. But i dont think any of them should be king. If Luda cared, he should be king. However, T.I tries much harder to get his name out compared to Flip. And recently im starting to really like T.I's style. he's got real catchy lines and does gr8 features on songs. So im going w/ T.I
Yukmouth vs. Game: Queer Beef. Yuk made money be4 Game. But Game is the most anticipate album of the West. And not for no reason. He's a solid rapper who brings it, and will soon bring the west back. Yuk i have a lot of respect for. But Game is the new era that will bring us back.
[Master P vs. Yukmouth: Yukmouth. Strait up. Who da fuck is Master P think he is? The punk lives in Lousiana or some shit like that and he thinks he's better than Yuk. Shoulda checked his facts cuz if they battled Yuk woulda murdered him like O.J simpson.
Shyne vs. 50 Cent[/b]: Shyne in Jail he don't know whats going on now. He's got a couple good songs. But he reps the east way too hard for a softy. He aint even goin after diddy. 50 has become more neutral now with Game he's gotta represent West, South and East.
Bad Boy Records vs. Dipset....: I aint impressed w/ Dipset. They all average rappers. Juelz, Camron, Jim Jones. DOnt get me wrong Jones is tight and Juel iz aight. But they act way too hard for their kind of rap. Bad Boy is laid back. Even tho their label has no big weapons. They have good producing and our respected. I think Mase is talented but his options to rap about have gr8ly declined now that he's a christian rapper. So his rap gets old easier now. But i think Loon has some talent i think he can maybe get something started w/ Bad Boy.
