What Did You Do When You Heard Pac Died?
« on: September 12, 2002, 11:59:32 PM »
I remember it clearly.  I went home and sat up in my room with the window open and listened to "Life Goes On" 100x over.  I was really hurt by it.  2pac was the cat that could go through anything and come out on top.  And to see that he wasn't invinsible like I thought he was, made me die a little inside.

I didn't really know until I came home from school, I didn't have not internet or sky/cable TV back then so it was quite hard to find out about the latest news unless you listened to the radio 24/7 and watched the news alot and being the age that I was 13/14 I didn't really care for those. My mother told me when I got in from school, she said it had been on the news. It was really a suprise for me, 'cos he survived the first shooting and I think I, like alot of other people, expected him to pull thorugh this. That night I just pretty much listened to his music all night, nothing out of the norm really but it was weird because in those few hrs his lyrics became even more prophetic than before, especially the material on MATW & AEOM.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

I heard it on the news. It was unreal, as earlier in the day, we were at school talking about how 'Pac can't die, and Bad Boy was in trouble after this. Though unlike Biggie, no one really knew who did this, but we were tripping. Then I heard he died, it was unreal. I played Me Against the World, still my favorite 2Pac album, and almost cried, but didn't. On Power they had a whole thing to 'Pac.

I was only 12 and all these teenage girls were crying their eyes out outside. I asked who died, thinking it was someone from the neighborhood and a girl says it was 2pac. Pac was my fav at the time and my granma was dieing so it was like things were getting worse.

i was 13 years old when he died and i was at my friends house and saw it on the news.  i had just bought all eyes on me that summer and had been listening to it everyday and he had become my favorite rapper. it was him that really got me into rap, so it was a sad day for me.

I remember everyone was thinking he was gonna pull through because he survived being gunned down before. That's why it hit everyone so hard. People, in my neighborhood at least, thought he was invincible because he had been through it and survived before.

I just happened to be flipping channels, and I flipped by the Channel 13 news in my room, and I heard it right as the news had hit the station. I was in denial. They had said days before that he was expected to live and what not, but he just died all of a sudden. Pac had quickly become my favorite rapper during the past year before that, and it just hit me real hard. More of a reality check that the streets are no joke. I called all my friends around the neighborhood to let them know, and none of them believed me. I remember that same day on the radio, 100's of girls called in crying within the span of about an hour.

Very sad day for rap music.

Same in my area. Strange thinking of another man as almost invincible now, but back then every thought 'Pac would pull though.
