Why Do R & B and Hip-Hop Share Chart Space?

It irks me when I see Billboard charts that have hip-hop and R & B together simply because when the two sounds come together musically for the most part, the songs are generic, like Marques Houston feat. Joe Budden on "Clubbin" and Christina Milian feat Fabolous on "Dip It Low." What do you think?
