Various Artists - "One Big Trip" OST (Heiro)
« on: July 12, 2002, 11:27:43 PM »
13 joints... the soundtrack to the One Big Trip DVD....

1. Beer Man (Intro)
2. Jurassic 5 - Verbal Gunfight
3. Heiro f/ Goapele - Soweto
4. Dilated Peoples - Downtown
5. Heiro - Hydra
6. DTA & The Magic Disco Machine - Make The People Sway
7. J-Ro - What You Lookin At
8. Heiro - G.U.O.M.D.
9. Royce Da 5'9 - Runnin
10. Loot Pack - Movies 2 Groupies
11. Del - One Big Trip
12. Heiro - Think Again
13. Swollen Members - The High Road

1. Beer Man
wierd alcohol related intro

2. Verbal Gunfight
dope track... somewhat harder than the usual J5 production... nice Gangstarr sample on the hook :D

3. Soweto
nice spanish guitar track.  i assume Goapele is the singer... tracks like this make me eager for a new Hiero album.  very very nice!

4. Downtown
something makes me think i heard this before... dirtier than the first couple of tracks... not as good as the first two, but not bad at all

5. Hydra
more nice production for Heiro... this project is shaping up really well... tracks are all solid.

6. Make The People Sway
this shit is wierd... i like the beat... wish someone rhymed though.

7.  What U Lookin At
very funky production... lots of bass.  J-Ro spits nicely as usual.

8. G.U.O.M.D.
wierd rhyme tempo... the beat is cool, different.

9.  Runnin
the kind of track I wish Royce would stay away from... i dunno who the chick is... but she's wack... i recognize the voice but... the beat is eh... it would be nice if royce was ripping it the whole time instead of sharing the track with this chick...

10. Movies 2 Groupies
dope beat! (go figure...)
hmm... vocal sample from First Knight hah.... nice joint.

11. One Big Trip
wierd beat/tempo... Del sounds dope as usual...

12. Think Again
another nice beat laced for Heiro...
i just love the heiro mc's, so all these tracks are enjoyable, and good beats help a lot.

13. The High Road
nice dark track.. dunno why its on here though, considering it was on Swollen's LP last year... but amazing production... good rhymes... the piano loop... yipes!

overall... probably the best OST i've ever heard. only one track i have any problem with (Royce's) and its not bad... but the chick guesting on it is.

4.75/5

The "One Big Trip" soundtrack is an OST CD on one side, and a DVD (for the actual "One Big Trip" movie) on the other side(!). You can buy it at http://www.hiphopsite.com.
