Foreign Exchange - Connected
« on: December 04, 2004, 04:07:04 PM »
Hey waddup, i donwloaded this album, and i'm kinda feelin it, HOWEVER,

EVERY SINGLE Beat sounds practically the same. THe drum pattern is exactly the same in every song. And all the beats sound like they're straight from the Little Brother LP. WTF is up with that? Isnt the producer supposed to be some Dutch guy Nicolay? It's like another LIttle Brother CD, but not quite as good

this is a dope cd, one of the best to drop this year imo...considering that it is Phonte from Little Brother rapping on it (among others), your comments seem a bit strange to me...

if you've listened to any Little Brother at all, then you'll know that 9th Wonder produces all there shit, and Nicolays production sounds totally different...

i dunno, i just thought Nicolay's drum patterns and instruments were exacly the same as 9th on the LIttle brother LP. 9th wonder's production on Murs and Jay-z and Nas wasn't exactly like LIttle Brother though. i just thought NIcolay's production was really similar to 9th wonder's

i think hes only really done stuff with guys from the Justus League and affiliates...

Thyrday - Fantastic
Little Brother - Light It Up
Cesar Comanche - Jacob's Ladder
Eye Plus Eye - Love Life Music (Nicolay Remix)
Common - I Gotta Right Ta (Nicolay Remix)
Little Brother - The Yo-Yo (Nicolay Remix)
Little Brother - The Way You Do It (Nicolay Remix)

there are more, but for the moment i cant think...

EDIT: have a look for his City Lights album, its an instrumental album, def. got some hot beats on it...

I think this album is definitely a contender for album of the year. I personally didn't think it sounded at all like 9th Wonder's production on the Little Brother album, and thought the production on the album was very refreshing. I kinda understand what you are saying in that the whole album is a similar tempo, but I think that was how it was intended to be, and I personally love the way that all of the tracks go into one another, through the little instrumental breaks and stuff.

I'm sure there was a Nicolay remix album that they were giving away with the FE album at some online stores, in addition to the tracks that Paradox listed as well.

damn i dont think nicolay and 9th beats sound the same at all

nicolays beats are more laid back and chill, awesome summer cd

this has to be one of the top 5 albums of the year no doubt
it was meant to be more of a soul/hip hop cd than rugged hip hop
