haha how do you organize your itunes for your ipod.

i know a lot of people that get hella cuaght up in organizing the itunes to perfection so that its really easy to find all your music. how do you organize it?

for me if an artist has more than one album that is on my ipod.. i'll put a number in front of the album name, so that it shows up in chronological order when i click on the artists name.
so for 2pac it would show up like:

2pac  >>>>>>>>>

1. 2pacalypse now
2. strictly for my niggaz
3. thug life vol 1
4. me against the world
5. all eyez on me
6. makaveli

dj quik  >>>>>>>>>>
1. quik is the name
2. way 2 fonky
3.  safe and sound
4. rhythmalism
5. balance and options
6. under the influence

I place all my singles into their own section called Singles. I don't like labeling artist names on the singles, cos when you scan through the ipod, a lot of the times you'll just end up scanning thru artists with only one song. so its kinda wack.  so for all the singles, the artist is just listed as "Singles", and it'll be under the respective albums. so it'd be like..

Singles >>>>>>>>>

Bay Area
Death Row Records
Death Row Vaults
Hip Hop
West Coast

the only time i put singles directly under an artist name would be 2pac, biggie, and dj quik cos i just listen to them the most. and they would have their own Singles album.

I just put the artists name under artist, song title under title and etc.

I don;t really care about the albums being in chronological order. Then again, Im not an organized person so thats why.

if the artist has an album under  different name like Del goes by Deltron 3030 in Deltron 3030 but Del tha Funky Homosaapien in Both  Sides of the brain I match them since essentially its the same personI hate when I DL tracks and there is 1 differencve between it and another album in the tag and u goptta go and find it

I just got my iPod like a week ago, so I don't have the system down completely yet.  So far, if I have a full album, Ill just make a playlist with the entire album titled like Artist Name - Album Title.  Then, before i add the files to iTunes, I copy the directory that has the album in it, so that way I don't fuck up the ID3 tags so my Winamp stays the same.  Then I edit the ID3 tags as the name of the song only in the song category, and the artist and featuring artists in the artist category.  For instance, it would show up as Skandalouz: 2Pac, Nate Dogg.  Then, with singles, I make playlist called Tite Songs Jan 2005, and then next month I'll make another playlist of all the singles i like for February.

yeah i actually have year playlists. so i have the top 40 hip hop tracks for each year from 1988, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 and 96. my ipod doesnt really contain much music that was released after 1996, about 90% is 1996 and before.

I have an Iriver.. 10 times better than an Ipod.. great battery life. Has FM radio... and i dont need no fuckin software to organize my songs. Its a easy to navigate and its pretty small. It gets good ratings from cnet.

First of all. Whats the point of having an mp3 player if you want to listen to the radio?
Second. My friend has an iriver....ive used it (i have an ipod) and its pure crap compared to an ipod. btw hes selling his iriver to get an ipod.

just tag the songs with the year the album was released and then sort the playlist by year... the iPod will update its list to sort by year next time you sync it with your computer..

wait ozir.. like your way, when you tag it with the year, it still wont show up as chronological order when im just browsing..  but only on the playlist.
