WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 - The Bush administration offered a new estimate of the cost of the Medicare drug benefit on Tuesday, saying it would cost $720 billion in the next 10 years.

That is much more than the $400 billion Congress assumed when it passed legislation creating the benefit in late 2003.

Of course by now things like this are to be expected.  Bush is consistently caught misleading the public, and republicans are again consistently supporting this foolishness.  The party should be ashamed of itself, but lucky for them, the average republican is too stupid to admit an error.

Remember when Bush sold the Iraqi War on WMD and told us the war would cost $87 Billion and pay for itself.  Well, now as we all know, ther were no WMD, and the war will end up costing around $250 Billion.

Now we find a similiar pattern with another portion of the 2000 Bush Agenda.  After promising the prescrition drug benefit would cost $400 Billion, we find that it actually costs $720 Billion.

And then there is the supposed Social Security Crisis.  Another made up lie to pitch another foolish proposal which Bush himself has a hard time justifying.  See:
