Violence and Media Violence
« on: February 08, 2005, 11:01:17 PM »
i watched the latest episode of Law & Order SVU and they tackled the case of video game violence... in the end they found the defendants guilty of their own crimes that they tried to blame on the games

now with all the studies out there, what is your take? do you think violence in the media directly effect real violence? who's to blame for a crime that is commited that closely resembles or is blamed on the media?

They say music can alter moods and talk to you
But can it load a gun up for you and cock it too?
Well if it can the next time you assault a dude

Well I agree with that, even with videogames. Videogames can't make someone killing people, the potential has got to be there beforehand. Videogames might give him the final motivation to do it, but then again if there aint no videogames he'd find another thing to give him the final motivation.

If anything, videogames prevent crime - cause if you feel like molesting people, you just play some Manhunt or some shit and it's fine. Sorta like with porn lol.

No, it's not a sin

Yeah, it puts ideas in people's heads. When I watch a movie or TV, I probably see 2 or 3 people die everyday. And while some people will see that and reenact it, I would never do something that foolish.

It all boils down the the person. They are violent by nature. Media may play a role in it, but their mentality is more to blame.

i dont think its the cause, but it definetly would have an effect on people... if we didnt see violence every day i believe that violence would decrease...
