You notice how Aftermath artists...
« on: August 20, 2002, 09:49:07 AM »
don't really claim Aftermath in their songs? I mean, Dre will once in awhile, but Eminem, Truth, even Hittman (from the bootlegs/advance) don't really rep their label like Death Row, Roc-a-fella, Murder Inc, Ruff Ryders, or Dogghouse/Doggystyle. Why do you think this is the case?

Peace

I think Dre was just trying to get away from the Death Row mentality. When Dre started Aftermath, it was the Aftermath of Gangsta Rap and Death Row, so things are ran different.

well, u know, Dre claims it once in a while, like on "Bad Intentions"...But I'm guessing Dre thinks it's stupid screaming out your record label on every song...I dunno, LoL...Most labels that shout out their Label on songs are also Crews as well...I just dont see Aftermath as a crew, so maybe thats why...PeaCe

Cuz Aftermath Artists make real songs with real lyrics, so they don't have to sound like Ja Rule on every song.

King Tee did.  he didn't shout it out, but he had it in his lyrics.  In GOT IT LOCKED.  at the end he was like " king tee and aftermath got it locked".  so yeah.  once in a while.

Slurred words, double vision, brain bustin, head rushin
Since I'm too drunk to walk, I rock a party on crutches
and still rush the roughest MC who wanna get it
Forget it, it's Likwit, Tha Liks and, Xzibit
Ca-Tash on the blast the final piece to the puzzle
I slap bitches on the ass I slap tits up out the muzzle
I shuffle with the microphone, bang rhymes consistant
You wack and I'm Ca-Tash and that's the motherfuckin difference
For instance, "21 and Over" set your clocks back
(Tick tock tick tock) Still standin where the rocks at
Two-thousand-one, we still young guns that's +Restless+&

'Aftermath' is mentioned in a few songs, but it's not just shouted out for the hell of it, when it is said it's included in the lyrics of the song, I find that more professional. And anyways, i'd say Aftermath is pretty well established enough now that pretty much everyone knows what artists are on the label. Plus, it's getting played out now since every other rapper/clique is shouting and screaming their label at the beginning and ending of songs, Death Row was the most legit at doing that because they were one of the first.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

It is mentioned through out the whole "Aftermath" abum.  On "Still D-R-E," "Forgot About Dre," "Big Egos," "Remember Me," "Blaww" and "Bad Intentions."  From what I can remember.
