Damn...I've got to ask: who is buying this album??? 'Cause everyone I know who has heard it has agreed that its nothing special. In fact, most people I've heard from think the album is poor. Not to mention the terrible (yet catchy) first single, that is nowhere near reaching ''In Da Club'' proportions of hype. I guess the 12 year old girls went out in force to pick this one up. And, before someone inevitably suggests it: No, I am not a hater. While I still enjoy some of his work, and own ''Get Rich...'' as well as many of the ''G-Unit Radio'' mixtapes, the only people I really hear playing 50's newer material are girls. I doubt I'll buy it... :-/

I still think he announced this Game 'beef' in public for two reasons: 1) He wanted the promo that it would bring, and 2) He actually dislikes Game (rather obvious) :
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One

i agree with you but i think he got the whole game situation going because of backlash from the other G-unit guys bitching about games sales compared to theirs. Trying to keep them happy.

damn over 1.1 million in the first week, but the sales are most likely going to drop
dramatically once they realized how much the album sucks. It will happen by the second week if not definitely during the third week.

I wonder what the second week sales will be. After people actually listed and word of mouth starts to spread. it'll probably be a big decrease. The album is ok but nothing special. I figured he would do big numbers due to all the drama.
I love the way haters come up with excuses, good lawd! give the Nigga propz.

50 is officially bigger than Em at this very moment. Em only pushed 710,000 with Encore in it's 5 days.

First week millionaires:
1. N Sync - No Strings Attached (2.4 million)
2. N Sync - Celebrity (1.8 million)
3. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP (1.8 million)
4. Backstreet Boys - Black & Blue (1.6 million)
5. Britney Spears - Oops! I Did It Again (1.3 million)
6. Backstreet Boys - Millenium (1.1 million)
7. Usher - Confessions (1.1 million)
8. 50 Cent - The Massacre (1.1 million)
9. Limp Bizkit - The Chocolate Starfish And Hot Dog Flavored Water (1.05 million)
10. Norah Jones - Feels Like Home (1.02 million)

50 has joined the ranks of great artists like N Sync, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears.

All of those albums either had a hot fisrt single or alot fo controversy surrounding them. Everyone just start controversy from now on to sell shit.

Encore did 711,000 in 3 days, not 5. It did another 800,000 the next week, and hit 2 platinum by the week after that. Eminem is still the proven franchise of the group. 50 still has to prove himself with this album. Most likely it will go far, but there is a chance that it dies out. Game sold 600,000 in his first week, but it dropped drastically every week since that. Let's not forget how cheap the 50 Cent CD was in the first week. Price has a lot to do with it. Look at Thriller; when it was $4 between 82 and 84 it sold nearly 20 million. When the price went up it didn't go 21 platinum for years, then slowly reached 26 over the entire decade of the '90s. Now look at AC/DC's Back in Black; it went platinum in it's first year, 5 platinum by 1985, another 5 platinum by 1990, then sold another 10 million copies between '90 and 2004. World wide it should catch up and surpass Thriller. One is an album with a great promotion and an even better price, the other is an album with a great reputation and a lot of word of mouth and influence. It takes longer for an album like that to sell, but it sells all the same. I hardlt doubt Massacre will grow over the years. It's best sales will be in the next couple weeks. Although Encore is the exact same kind of album thus far, Em has hit over 4 platinum 5 times, twice he went over 8 platinum. 50s got a long wat to go before he becomes the franchise. Of course if 50 had signed with Puffy or Rough Rider, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I think it's funny how he gloats about making the Game a star when he was created by Eminem the same way.

How is stating factual numbers dickriding? All I meant was that if I was a record label exec and had to lose either Em and his catalogue or 50 nad his catalog I'd let 50 go. This doesn't mean he isn't good for business, it just means he has a while to go before he beats Eminem as the number 1 guy on the label. This album has to go at least 5 platinum and then the next one will have to the same. It's like saying Mark Mcguire Barry Bonds is a better homerun hitter than Babe Ruth because of a few really hot seasons. Check the career HR/AB ratio and you'll know Bonds has a long way to go before he's in the Babe leagues, and Mcguire just didn't cut it.

I will have to say that Shallow is right, and Lyrical_G is wrong.

Look at the numbers:

Marshall Mathers LP, 9 times platinum in U.S.
Eminem Show, 9 times platinum in U.S.

Get Rich or Die trying, 6 times platinum in U.S.

The Massacre will of course sell a lot, but all Eminem have to do is release a single, and radio/MTV will eat it up, sky-rocketing whatever album the single is on.
To keep up with Em's pace, 50 will have to flirt with DIAMOND numbers, catching up with Em is a long route to go, and Encore has just started..

I bet Eminem could release something as a single from Slim Shady LP, and still get 24/7 radio play.  :-X

Hell, I bet if Em re-released Infinite, it would go 7x platinum
