Dre is an "Industry Hoe"- he recording w/MYA!!!!!
« on: August 13, 2002, 04:08:15 AM »
Damn, Dre is what he said he would never be in his own words- an "industry hoe"!  I mean, i think it is cool how he works with more artists nowadays, but back in the days when he only worked with his own family, it was guaranteed they were getting the best tracks he possibly had.  It also meant he was a lot more focused.

Once again, it is all good Dre is working with various artists. However, does he really gotta work with MYA?  I will be fuckin pissed off if he gives her a hit like he did to Eve last year, or a beat like Mary's "Family Affair".  THose were probably the only guaranteed beats that were sure to be superhits(i am talking songs EVERYONE likes) he has put out since 2001, and he gave them to Eve and Mary J?  And then he gives Nate a terrible beat for his album?  After what NAte did on 2001, that pissed me off!  Imagine if Dre would've saved the XXplosive beat and Nate coulda had that as his single?  NAte woulda blown the fuck up!!

All i know is, if Dre keeps doing all these other artists songs, then i am worried for Rakim's album and other Aftermath albums as they are not as good as they truly could be.........

It says it at MTV.com.......in the Mya article towards the end.

I have no problem with him doing so, cuz i can admit i have bumped a Mya track (Best of Me) before, i just think it will piss me off if he gives her a smash hit when he isn't doing that for anyone else right now.......

Now that Dre has worked for so many artists in the last 2 years,  hope he keeps a low profile and creates some excitement for his upcoming releases by ot putting anything out (that way we will be dying for some Dre-funk when Rakim and Dre's own album drop)....

I honestly don't even pay much attention to Dre anymore.  It takes him way to long to put an album out on Aftermath, and the only album that I really liked was 2001.  The eminem albums are good, but I am not much of an eminem fan.  Truth Hurts-well I haven't heard the album, but I am not a huge fan of R&B, I mean it is good music and all but it doesn't hold my attention for very long.  The wash had a few good songs, but for the most part was just under average.  Dre barely works with any rappers I like anymore, so I just really don't pay attention to him anymore.  Hopefully he will do some nice work on snoops next album.

I do not agree with you...

Dre always puts out the best of his ablities and it's fine for him to work with other people!

It could be that the songs you don't like is the songs that Dre likes the most...

And by the way - In my opinion "Your wife" is a dope track!!

What' wrong with Dre working with Mya?  All producers branch out and work with different artists.  I wouldnt call Mya pop.  Mya is hip-hop and has recorded tracks with the likes of Jadakiss and Jigga.  I have no problems at ALL with Dre working with Mya.  I dont understand how making a track for a musician makes Dre and "industry hoe".  Do you even know what an industry hoe is.  ::shakes head in disgust::

I like pop music, i just don't necessarily want Dre doing it.....

Ya, "Your Wife" is dope, but that beat is ass compared to other beats Dre has done.....I could only imagine what Nate could've done with the FAMILY AFFAIR beat or the LET ME BLOW YA MIND beat.......

My point is, Dre made classic albums back in the day cuz he wasn't working outside his crew......same as when he made 2001.   I just hope he quits with all the collaborations for awhile so Rakim's album can be classic, and then so can DETOX...

Dre himself defined an industry hoe as someone who was willing to work with a gang of different people in the industry, and swore he'd never become one (it was in the cover story in The Source a few years back, I don't have it to quote directly.)

A few years before that, while he was with Tha Row, he said in Hip Hop Connection magazine that he didn't want to spread himself thin cuz he wanted people to know that when his name was on something it would be special.

I think the problem is now that Dre's name on a record DOESN'T mean it's special. I have no doubts that Detox and Oh My God will be awesome, awesome records, but Dre is doing himself no favours giving beats to Mary J, Eve or Busta. I'd rather he saved it all up for his own crew instead of becoming a pop producer, whihc he's in danger of becoming...

Are you serious???  If Dre worked with N Sync then I would lose all respect for him.  I mean he turned down Micheal Jackson, one of the greatest in the music industry, yet he decides to work with Eve, Mary J. Blige, Mya, Busta Rhymes, etc.  I don't understand his decisions in the past few years.
